WAIT! So Massimiliano was actually Aladdin's speaking voice before becoming Eugene's singing voice?! Well, what do you know 😭 I've always had a soft spot for the Italian version of this song though, it's just plain perfect (although that overly use of reverb is kinda hmm.. unnecessary, but oh well). ALSO, in case didn't know, the Albanian lyrics of that song are strongly inspired by the Italian ones, so it feels home most of the time lol. Oh those legends are possibly married? *MY HEART* 😍
@FlamSparks5 жыл бұрын
Well, Massimiliano is a voice actor and his list of roles is veeeeery long (even outside animation movies): it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massimiliano_Alto#Film_d'animazione he was maybe too young to take over Aladdin's singing too, but he did both parts in the two sequels. No clue why he didn't dub Eugene in the series (or in the main movie, actually, I can't stand the speaking voice), would have been nice indeed :/ Yep, I know the Albanian lyrics are based a lot on the Italian version (are they possibly translated directly from Italian, instead for English?). Speaking of which, I came up a few days ago with a question for you. I was skipping back and forth the Albanian dubbing of Treasure Planet (2nd dubbing) and when Jim and Doppler go onboard for the first time and the Captain calls them in her office, when she's about to dismiss them, she makes fun of Doppler's suit and uses a word to define it which sounds a lot like the term she uses in the Italian version ("scafandro"), which is a rather peculiar word (old-fashioned, clumsy word for "diving suit"), whereas in English she simply says "outfit". Is it possible that older Albanian dubs where *all* translated from Italian instead?
@diokles5 жыл бұрын
@@FlamSparks Yeah I guess that's what happened, sometimes the Italian versions of the songs are used when they do not get dubbed afterall (Cinderella 2nd dub, Cinderella 3 etc), and in cases like Anastasia (illegal dubs), you can hear the Italian basis along with the instrumentals a bit, so I think most of them are X) That might also explain the reason why they used scafandro (skafandër in Albanian) in that one, but although Albanian is defined as a unique language, it does have some slight Latin influences (for instance, spegazione -> shpjegim) hohoho

Albanian and Greek: weirdos of the Balkans x) Really, it's fascinating how these two languages are surrounded by language _families,_ and yet manage to actually stand out for their peculiarity on their own. But I did notice quite a few times, listening to songs in Albanian, that even though the language is pretty evidently self-standing, I can recognise quite a few words...loanwords from Italian, maybe?

@@FlamSparks What makes that even more special is the fact they both got to keep living even after being conquered by the Ottoman Empire (Turkey today) for ceuntries. One of the only reasons I feel proud of my country if you'd ask me ('X Absolutely yup, I bet you do know first hand how *many* Albanians live there. Here's a little fun fact related to those similarities; After the 90s when the communism was finished, a lot of Albanian immigrants rushed to Greece & Italy, and before that they used to sneakily watch channels like Rai or Canale 5 (they had only one lame TV channel & every connection with the world was restricted afterall), and I think that made them excellent Italian speakers, and consequently they've started replacing Albanian words with some Italian words as well (not *that* positive but cool lol)

Probably because you're thinking of the PAL version of the movie (used in European DVDs and TVs), which is sped-up compared to what the actual speed and pitch should be. So, _this_ you hear here is the actual speed the song should have, while the PAL one is altered

So this song is called "The World is Mine" well that doesn't have the same meaning. Couldn't they have tried something like "the world is fantastic" At least that's similar and expresses how they love what they're seeing.
@FlamSparks4 жыл бұрын
Well, "A whole new world" counts 4 syllables, while the Italian translation of "the world is fantastic" would be "il mondo è fantastico", which counts 8: it's double as long as it should be, it would never fit in
@lobotomars4 жыл бұрын
no matter how hard you try, nothing else works... anyways, they share "the world is yours - the world is mine", so it's like he's showing her a whole new world what belongs to her. it fits after all
@Cosmopavone3 жыл бұрын
No, impossible, the words lenght has to be right for the metrics of the song and must adapt to the lipsync "il mondo e' fantastico" is just too long to adapt to the metrics "A - whole - new - world" 4 "Il - mon -do e' - mio" 4 " Il - mon- do e' - fanta - stico" 5 ...so it doesn't fit in the song And "the world is mine" means their finally free so the meaning is the same
@heroeus81732 жыл бұрын
Lol in spanish they say an ideal world(un mondo idéal) In european french we say "ce rêve bleu" this blue dream In québécois french they say a whole new world(basically Direct translation from english to french even if it doesn't make sense in term of meaning) a disaster by the way So i am not surprise that italians change the lyrics or even the name of the song
