Hey Mat, since you're "a nerd for water" I'm wondering when you will install rain gutters on the house. With a roof that big you can catch a ton of free water. Burry a 20.000 Galon tank in the back yard and let your roof fill it. Connect that tank to your irrigation system and you will save a LOT on you water bill. If the tank is empty you can set the system to automatically swich back to city water. This will also save you 20.000+ galon fill material for the back yard, think about it please.

@@erikweijling7361 The initial pool fill (and probably some initial pool fills in subsequent years), he'll probably have a tanker or two come deliver some. I know a few people on wells who do that. Saves the risk of depleting the aquifer for a few days, and also putting a ton of wear and heat on the well pump. The rest of the year for top ups, they use well... but that initial fill (10K-20K gallons)... better to just get it delivered.

Matt, I have landscaped for 10+ years, get rid of the Crepe Myrtles. They are rough on a foundation and with bad genetics and trimming they'll sprig out from the base. It looks terrible when they do and you'll want them removed. Once removed, you will have the issue with the root system. If every root is not removed, it will grow a new tree from which ever root it desires. They're terrible man. I highly recommend going a different route while they are freshly in the ground if possible.

Crepe myrtles are okay in the landscape away from the buildings; at least 18 feet away. If you want to see what they become, look at the grounds of the DPS office in Canton, TX. There are a couple with trunks about 18" in diameter, branch spans close to 18', and about 20' tall. They are SHADE TREES that you can sit under! They are also beautiful examples of why you shouldn't destroy crepe myrtles by "topping" them. If you must have one, put it in the middle of your yard and benignly neglect it.

@ approx 4mins; Meredith Carriker, I would recommend an Oak tree for the center of the driveway roundabout landscape. One good for your climate and ideally one already well established from a local plant nursery that can also provide planting services and other ideas. We have several good ones here in Phoenix, but I'm certain that you both will feel better about supporting local businesses and better pleased with the results of going local. God bless!

Crazy to see my favorite channel and my favorite hobby mix like that in the beginning. Just a tip, if you are running a lipo battery, please make sure to charge and discharge/store it properly at 50%. Many people dont understand how dangerous lipo batteries are and they end up losing their house because of it. Please store it safely!

As a landscaper a little forewarning. Drip irrigation under grass can create “stripes” in a lawn. Especially in hot climates the water between the drip pipes tend to evaporate before reaching the center, thus creating the “stripe.” There are high efficiency nozzles you can put on sprinkler heads that may provide a better looking lawn, House looks great!
