I used to have an aggressive goat, he would headbutt me all the time but in his mind he was just playing with me. I ended up looking for ideas online for how to get him to stop and found out that goats hate being sprayed with water so I poked a hole in the lid of a water bottle and sprayed him when he tried to headbutt me and it would make him stop for a few minutes.
@marvindebot326410 ай бұрын
Yup, he's a happy goat, the tail was wagging as well which is the same with a goat as a dog. One more thing Matt, one of them is going to end up getting its horns stuck in the fence as they grow. The problem ther is not that (assuming they get checked on daily) but they try to shove their head back the other way, get it caught in the other direction and choke to death.

Matt, I grew up farming goats. We had a quarter-ton buck once. His name was Leroy Brown. Yes, like the song. He put holes in our barn and was wayyy too smart for his own good. He always tried unlocking the gate latches with his tongue! Well, I also know a man named Dave Beall. Dave has the strongest handshake I've ever felt. He'd help my dad with fencing and projects and I'd be at his house often enough to hang with Dusty, his son. Mr. Beall had a Corvette project car. My dad had a Triumph Spitfire project. One day, Leroy was bugging Dave terribly, trying to run him off and taking his tools. Dave had enough, grabbed Leroy by his horns, yanked him to the left and then twisted Leroy to the right with such force Leroy fell on his side in the dirt. He didn't like that, but learned his place and kept his distance from Mr. Dave Beall, the strongest man I know in Carroll County, MD.

We have boer goats and have seen many people try and break the boer Billy's from doing there natural behavior. The best way is to show you are top dominance. Grab his horns and rotate his head against his shoulder and he will come of balance and go to the ground. Then while on his back sit on him gently not to hurt him to show that you are the big one in town. It was built in 1940 and was built on huge boulders. 😮 That was a project!! Much easier to build foundations before the home goes up. Just like your goat pen. lol I'll watch you mow the lawn too. You're entertaining no matter what you do. Thanks for sharing Matt. So, the boy goat may be trying to keep you away from his harem. He has a pregnant lady now. Hey Matt, I raise goats also, and the buck will eventually get more aggressive. One rule we use is to NOT touch his head or horns unless absolutely necessary. That's the business end. You will have to show your dominance with him now though, and make him keep his distance from you and your family. The way I do it, is to flip him on his side, put your knee in his shoulder and tuck his head against his top side by your knee and hold it there til you feel his tenseness release. He will eventually give up, and once you have done that, you can let him up. He may try to test you again, but be persistent, and do the same thing each time til he decides he won't win, then he will keep his distance. These boer goats can get a couple hundred pounds and they can hurt you if you don't get your bluff in early. Hope this helps!

I love how well the editor does the audio for these videos. It's clean and flat as it should be all the way. The music parts are also really smooth and not overpowering :D

Matt you should get some gold fish in the goats Water bin suppose to keep the alge from forming not sure how they deal with the cold but I know I've always seen cattle farmers and people with a full stable of horses have gold fish in the water bin to keep alge growth down and the goat wanting to head butt idk if it will help but have him neutered might take away from him trying to be the dominant animal in the pen

I think it's funny that you still can't believe that some of us just want to watch you working hard...it motivates someone of us more than you will ever think it could. Trust me your content isn't lame, and we want to see everything from start to finish. We can tell you aren't liking some of the content you are putting out...and sometimes that attitude doesn't make me want to watch. Be proud of yourself for everything you do even if it's mowing the grass...if you are having fun doing it we are having fun watching it! Good vibes brother!

Great video. But about the outro, please always leave "what camera is that? Shut up! Don't tell Mere" I know it means a lot to you and I think it dose a good honor to your brother. It's good to not forget the ones who helped make us who we are. On a lighter note, Mere laughing "It's so stupid" cracks me up every time ❤

I plowed in 600' of 1" black coil pipe to a hydrant at my ibex goat pasture using a subsoiler with a homemade guide tube. It was the best thing I ever did.

DAAAAMN MATT! Those shoulders and arms are swole! Good job bud, killin it in the gym. Also yeah, probably should’ve encased the garden hose in some old cattle guard pipe. The ground will compress that hose and you’ll be up with barely a trickle of water.

If the goat wethered or a buck? If he’s a buck then I would suggest wethering him (banding him). Also you can put pool noodles on his horns if he’s trying to head butt you. Sometimes they like to rub their heads on people to get their sent on you. I’ve also used a cattle prob on my goats if they are trying to head butt me or jumping on me. Hope that helps!

There is a youtube channel of a guy that uses goats for pack hunting in the mountains. I recall he used spray bottles to deter the aggressive behavior. I also recall him saying that anytime you fight back, it just encourages them to keep fighting.

I loved the video. I learned a couple things. See, the ones you don't think are good, are the ones that can really train someone who hasn't done the concrete in such a long time. Thanks Matt.

Someone needs a mini-excavator for those small jobs!!! Just saying! Volume + Length x Width x Depth That last one is super important. That is why the pros use gravel to bring it up to grade and poly(visqueen?) to prevent all the water and slurry from nestling into the cracks, requiring more concrete to keep the top grade right. Forms look decent! I hate mice. Talk to Cleeter.......Goat-Drifting!!! BTW-You are the only one worried about audio!!! I love grass mowing.....
