On your veranda garden, an option for ground cover is origanum. I have used it in my beds to cover the ground to keep the cats out.

With your raised beds, it's a great idea to cover some with plastic sheeting, using a frame to make a poly tunnel - which means you can plant out earlier. But, in the UK, what I do with my broccoli, cabbage, and caulis, is to net them in the summer, once the bugs and butterflies appear.

What a joy watching you make bread in your new kitchen that you built through love, care and attention to every detail. Dinner looked delicious as did the cinnamon buns and bread. The polka dot planters will make you smile and lift your spirits each time you come down the stairs. Lovely video and thanks for sharing part of your week. Pauline

If you are planning to make dough so often, I would suggest that you make a kneading board out of pine wood. 80 cm deep and as wide as you need and you put a lip downwards at the edge of the table to stop sliding away from you when you knead and one lip upwards on the other end to stop the flour spreading everywhere. It's a Z shape board. My grandparents had one of those and they used it all the time. It's easier to use a rolling pin to spread the dough which won't stick to the board like it sticks to the plastic sheet.

Come on, Will. Let's have a proper timber block to place on the kitchen island for mixing flour, when bread and pastry making. That's the better carpentry solution. You don't want or need a shower curtain in a working farmhouse kitchen. PS, didn't meant to sound harsh. Your new kitchen looks great.

Home made bread and pizza - nothing like it! Recipes with cinnamon are my favourite and your cinnamon rolls look divine. I never tire of anything to do with baking, especially important when you live off grid and also trying to live a more sustainable life. I'm loving learning about gardening too, especially growing your own food. Those welly planters are so cute! Looking forward to your next video!
