The thing about sleep token, is that the technicality is made in every millisecond they tape. Every strum, pause, drum hit, breathe taken… it’s all meticulously laid out so you feel exactly what vessel feels. I’ve never openly wept or felt such a deep level of emotion while listening in on something, but this band manages time and time again to literally pull those emotions out of me. It’s technical, but in a seemingly inobvious way.

So many people have listened to a track or two of Take Me Back to Eden and have done what you're doing. And every single person is so glad they did Excited for you to get to listen to all this for the first time. I've played their songs probably at least 10,000 times by this point lol

Back to the beginning! At this stage of Sleep Token, I believe it consisted of only Vessel. II, funnily enough, joined for the second EP entitled Two. From then on, the only credited musicians on all the albums are solely Vessel and II. They are also the only credited songwriters. Vessel plays all the instruments and performs all the vocals, and II plays all the drums and percussion. III (bass) and IV (guitar) join for live performances but are not credited on any album. Stay safe 🤘 ✌️

I got 2 songs into TMBTE, and went all the way back to the beginning as you have and I wouldn’t have wanted to experience it in any other way to just enjoy the growth of mastery Vessel has over the lyrics and the vocals. It’s very emotional from beginning to end. I’m excited to see you keep going!

You hit the nail on the head......a lot of their songs just have this "VIBE" and thats what Vessel wants. That's the whole reason for being anonymous, so we focus solely on the music and not who they are as people. The music can be very compelling, sucks you in yeah. But Vessel's voice man!!! Its like he's the pied Piper and we're the rats, completely enamored by him. He's a legit GENIUS!! He came up with their sound, the lyrics, their whole image. Pure genius, hands down. A lot of people describe their music as atmospheric, yeah, but it's also kind of melancholic and beautifly tragic especially when you listen to the lyrics. Vessel has obviously been through some shit. This is his form of therapy, getting it all out there to be purged from him and in the process inspiring so many people at the same time. We are blessed he shared his genius with us and I'm so glad he did. I get what you were saying about maybe not being into them if this would have been your first listen. Being into the harder stuff myself, if i hadn't have heard the Summoning I probably wouldn't have gotten into this slower paced stuff myself. That being said, like you, i have been able to go back to their older stuff with the knowledge of where they evolved to and truly appreciate the music for what it is. Vessel put all his pain, love, fear, loss, frustration happiness into ALL of his music. So it doesn't matter what it sounds like, I'm going to listen because I know it is special. Nuff said! Ok...😂 i went off there. But glad you're on the train....we get to re-live our first time hearing them by watching people like yourself get totally wrapped up in them. So far, I like the vibe very much! Vessel knows what they are doing! As bad as it is to say, the best music comes from people who have been through shit! I can imagine that it is a huge release for Vessel and judging by how nice and clued up the fans are, you are all very much into it! I have been playing guitar for 17 years and there is nothing better when upset/angry or whatever than to sit down and get it out through music! I look forward to getting more of your perspective throughout the trip! 😊

No clue if someone has told you yet. But Vessel writes and records EVERYTHING but the drums. The guy is a musical genius in my opinion. Right there with Trent Reznor.

It has been mentioned 😊 Both Vessel and II are amazing at what they do! Vessel is a great instrumentalist but I feel II's drumming added so much when he came in for "Two."

@BraindeadBreakdown 2 is most definitely a beast in his own right for sure! As a drummer myself, he is one of my most favorite drummer out there right now. He's a deathcore drummer originally and was in another band. Same with Vessel he has other music on here with just him singing and playing acoustic. If ya know where to look anyways. 😉

Dude, I’m right there with you. This song is a grower. I love it, but it doesn’t make for the best introduction to the band. I’d never put it in front of someone as a first or even a third song. In my own journey, I had to get real familiar with their newer stuff before I could appreciate the older. It wouldn’t surprise me if you came away not liking One, but I promise you it gets so, so much better. Two is outstanding and once you get into Sundowning, you’ll hear a massive progression that only grows from there. I’m excited to follow along with your fall into the rabbit hole!

Definitely not the best introduction, I wouldn't show it to someone as the first song but it doesn't make it a bad song. I just got spoiled by Take Me Back and Ascensionism 😂 Two will be coming soon, I am going to record those today 🙂

I think Sleep Token is just one of those bands where you have to listen to the popular tracks to “get” them, and I think that helps make the early stuff more digestible, for lack of a better term. We’ll definitely get a unique perspective from you since you’ve only heard two of the more recent tracks. Seems like a lot of reactors go through the new album and then go backwards, so I’m psyched to see someone pretty much start from the beginning.

Stay the course brother the progression and evolution is amazing. I started with the three eps first, was blown away then went back and heard the lps. The lps are great but definitely more experimental. I personally learned to love the second lp “two” immensely, especially Jericho. But the again the overall evolution and the bands personal story is inspiring. Enjoy the ride. Btw I’m about to see sleep token for the first time in Seattle in 4 hours and can’t wait. There have been people in line at the venue since this morning

Hey man, been getting more into Sleep Token. Pretty much vibing out to the trilogy and decided to take things back to the beginning like you. I have had One on repeat for about a day now. What I have noticed about this song is how the music itself almost sings and speaks of a different song that twists the narrative Vessel is signing. This might be a prevailing theme of their music overall, I think it is but I am trying to approach this with a fresh perspective. Just my interpretation here; The lyrics are an invite into intimacy with the video hinting that this is a ritual of sorts with Vessel first entering Sleep’s wake. Whatever that is, I’m sure answers to that will be revealed in time. I have some suspicions on what this is. But when the breakdowns hit, I feel the instrumentals are hinting, maybe foreshadowing even, that this story will not have a happy ending. I find the image of the apple interesting as well. Almost like it is using imagery from Genesis and the story of Adam and Eve as a metaphor for Vessel giving into temptation and opening the door to the original sin. Very eerie song. Just my thoughts. My knowledge of Sleep Token is minimal and I’m just a man curious in this art.

I can understand why you would be vibing! I love most of their stuff, there is some that I don't think is quite as strong as other but overall is a great catalogue of music! ST awakened a passion for music that I lost long ago!

This song took a bit for me to get used to and it isn’t one that I go back to regularly like I do the rest of their discography but I’m glad you started here, it’s good to see where they start as a group and their evolution over the years to the masterful, haunting and absolutely brilliant collective that they are.
