Why is there a Zardoz (1974) stream? An Incident has occurred and the schedule is disrupted. Luckily, Murgoot and I are safe and able to stream about the films we have to hand, many of which happen to have been previously requested.

I remember this playing at a drive in across from my aunt and uncle’s house - watched it without sound as a very young lad

Remember watching this as a kid and felt like I was high. It messed me up so much. It's one of my favorite wtf movies ever. The opening speech by the guy behind Zardoz is near perfect and gets more profound every year. I hope this never gets remade. It fits perfectly with the effed up mid 70s. Kinda feel like u are in my head. Almost every movie you've been doing lately are in my top 50 all time. Thanks again PHS !!!!!!

That does beg the question of whether Bunker Streams are part of the DFHS series... but since you asked so nicely 😉 Thanks for the kind words

Thank you for this stream. Zardoz has received a lot of supercilious hate and ridicule. Its imagery is so specific that it’s easy to parody, of course. Another factor is, Mark Kermode loathes it, partly because he loathes John Boorman for Exorcist II, and partly because Kermode is a progressive and this film has an anti-progressive (or at least anti-utopian) view. Zardoz is very unlike those dusty, urban American dystopian sci-fi films of the 70s, like Soylent Green and The Omega Man. It has a decidedly British sensibility. It’s closer to weird British TV films like Penda’s Fen and Artemis 81 than to anything else.
