@velvetrosenevermind, I was hoping you would comment as I have an idea that might work for you. I also collect crystal but hate dusting, so I've recently paced mine in those clear acrylic makeup drawers you can buy that stack together. You can still see them but only have to dust the drawers. I've lined the bottom with moss and am going to put a little label in them and maybe some cleansing herb sprinkled in.

It depends on what path you follow! In Wicca it usually is east, but other traditions do it differently

I don't think roasting other people's altars is a good idea. Roasting, in general, feels mean-spirited to me, and someone may think if they submit their altar that it would be funny to be roasted, but then you might inadvertently hit a "sore spot" for them and they would feel hurt. I think roasting would lead to this not feeling like a safe space.
