The original movie was actually better...and actually scary. Yeah, the special effects at the time weren't so good, but puppets will always look more genuine than 3D eyebrows on mice. The witches in this movie didn't look as gross as they could. And there's no good witch at the end, kinda dissapointing they changed so much.

The book had no good witch and it is pointed out a lot of times that all witches hates children so having a good witch is completely wrong and stupid for the 1990 movie unlike this one which is more accurate

@@FusionStream It'd give them away too quickly, and they never got that far by being obvious. Which is incidentally a problem with this whole movie. They rely far too much on polymorphing children with spiked candies like it is their only trick. This is the main plot in any version of this tale, but here every attempt on children's lives involves them tricking them into taking potions through sweets. In the book there were several childhood friends of the granny's who met their end or worse in various manners, including a straight abduction and disappearance that was never explained, a second one given an apple charmed to lock her in a painting in her family's living room, which got adapted for the first movie, and three transformed children, cause of which unknown. And hints GHW herself personally used her incineration powers on a few. The plan to put this in chocolates and open shops with all confections treated with this was flawed, but having other plans made them look less foolish. The fact this is all they do in this movie makes me wonder how they did not get busted sooner for this.

I actually like that they remain as mice. This is reminder to children that their actions have concequences so even tho they managed to kill the witches in the moive, the children should know that they should not take anything from strangers especially rhe tempting candies or face the result of being a mouse forever

@@harsharagoonanan2310 Yeah no I hate movies That give these terrible messages to kids that they would receive such drastic punishments for doing small things like stealing a candy bar. Believe me I think kids shouldn't do such things, but scaring them into believing they will be killed for doing things like that, is wrong and petty and I'm pretty sure they could have found a potion to turn them back into humans. Why would they want to live as a mouse people forget how terrifying and horrible that would be if you got turned into something else and had to manage like that it would be a bad life. Also yes you should not take things from strangers but they will not always be on that caliber of dangerous like drugs or something when a kid does that. Finally a very important lesson for this movie as well would be when you have a problem fix it, like the kids turning into mice they could have definitely gotten a potion to turn them back into humans from the witch, or just have a gotten a potion making book from her to do it.

But I also like the new story of the remake, I love the little changes because some remakes just copy everything from the old one. I love how this remake of the witches changed the plot a little bit but still left some nostalgic scenes to connect it with the old one. I really hope the kids in this remake became humans again though...

In my opinion , the ending of the original movie is better because one of the witches switched sides but still retained her magic. She turned him back into a boy. Why no good witch in this version? Disappointing. Have very mixed feelings about this remake. Premise / plot still kind of crap but still looks to have nice special effects and some humor with it , I should read the book some day to see how bad / good it is compared to the movies...
