So the idea back then was that wives took care of the home while husbands worked. But if husbands were as stupid as this, how could they have held down jobs?
@kimifw588 жыл бұрын
Men were only clueless about their homes because they had their wives do everything. I imagine George after all their years of marriage had too much manly pride to ask his wife to refresh him on how the kitchen appliances worked. I think the joke is that since men are so good at bringing money home, they think they can do everything.

I should complain about this level of sexism but... This was considered completely normal back in these days. So I'm just glad the I was born in a generation when women weren't treated like mindless housewives and men like stupid idiots anymore. Fun fact: my grandfather was born in 1940 but he never completely relied on his wife when it came to chores. He always supported her and was the one who cooked the meals. After my grandmother died, he was perfectly fine on his own and knew how to take care of the house and didn't need a woman. And he raised my father as an independent man and told him "you never know when you end up living alone. So be sure you can survive on your own." I'm so proud of my grandfather
