This is really clever! A larger version could have the rotating platform underneath it, between the feet, rather than over and around it, but then it wouldn't look as cool nor function as a protective cage.
@in12 жыл бұрын
Yep, I experimented with that, but in a small scale it was just easier to put the battery box between the rotating and the walking part
@hollt6932 жыл бұрын
@@in1 Yeah, I can definitely see how putting it underneath would be too much trouble at that scale. The cage idea was a good workaround that I wouldn't have thought of. I'd be tempted to put it under an empty paint can and scare people by making it hop around. But I'm a bad person like that.

I really like that you always create your designs with only basic parts. I haven't seen many other creators making their builds as "user-friendly" as yours :D

I wonder if something like this could be made with just one motor for absolute minimalism. ie: if it's going clockwise then it walks, but if it's running counterclockwise it lifts the body and rotates.
@in12 жыл бұрын
That was actually the reason I built this, I'm currently working on one with only one motor. But I'm not sure if it will work and in case it does, if I'll make a video.

This would be wicked with a dome instead of legs too, it functions just like that walking trashcan, sadly I don't recall the video title or channel.

Neat :) It's like the reverse design of that hexbug walker
@satibel2 жыл бұрын
You can make it work with a single motor and one way mechanisms, simply make it walk when it turns clockwise, or turn when it goes counterclockwise
@in12 жыл бұрын
Yep, that actually was my main goal, but then I decided to make a compact version
@satibel2 жыл бұрын

Do you have any tips on making a bipedal robot? I’m currently making one right now
@in12 жыл бұрын
hmm, I once tried around with that, and failed because of the weight of the battery box... Most walking robots solve that by tilting so that the battery box is above one "foot"
