Thanks for the video Cheryl. It's great to have that vermicompost on hand when you need it. I made the zucchini fritters the other day - they turned out great. Thank you

There are a lot of mites. Nice harvest. Have a great day.

It seemed to be a seasonal thing with those mites. I got them in my compost bin and also other people have mentioned they have them too. Thanks AJ. enjoy yours too😊

I love the "all or nothing" harvest! I do the same with Gilligan, my converted turtle shaped paddling pool worm bin. Are you going to age the castings to wait for the cocoons, Cher? ~ Sandra
@downundervlogsАй бұрын
I am not that patient Sandra😄 , I didn't actually see any cocoons but I am sure they are in there. They will hopefully survive in the garden bed.🫶😊

Very healthy looking worms there Cher and the vermicompost will give the garden a kick. I'm sure there are heaps of cocoons in the garden now as well as heaps still in the hungry bin. It's not a bad thing at all to have worms burrowing around in the garden, aerating the soil and helping to keep the soil alive. I hope you have time to show off the results a bit later in the season.

That's right Bruce. I have many free ranging worms especially in my darlek compost bin. If I need to I can round them up again like I did once before in a previous video by setting up a tray with cow manure and straw. They loved it and I got a tray full of worms back. I hope for a bit more rain this summer. Thanks for sharing Bruce. 🫶😊

Great exercise doing hand sifting i still do it for smaller batches of worms .nice looking castings your garden going to love it 🪱🦘
@downundervlogsАй бұрын
I generally use a table to sift so I dont have to bend over as it hurts my back but I don't always do everything the way I should lol. I hope my new veggies will like it. Thanks for watching 💗👍🫶

the castings looked great. I am trying to amend my garden and raised beds with compost and some castings, then next spring it starts again.

Hi Cheryl Do you know worm vending machine in Japan? Anglers buy worms from the machine. Good day. Katsu

Terrific harvest of castings! How long since the last harvest? I made a CFT bin out of a 55 gal barrel last Jan, went to harvest from below, the castings were like mud, think I will have to do what you just did and try again. Posted a video on harvesting my outdoor 50 gal grow bag bins, kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5W6dXtmr9GqedEsi=xXuswEBVEE_VUorL you might be interested in, skips screening out the worms from the castings. I do screen the finished castings to use the chunky material to inoculate new bedding. New subscriber, found a bunch of fellow worm lovers in your comments that I am familiar with. Stay Well!!!

Thanks brianseybert for sharing, I have collected the castings out of the tray before and they are like moist clay like mud. I end up just making worm tea out of it and run it through a strainer to collect any worms. That is why I usually just harvest the whole bin at once just to only have compost. Welcome to my channel, I have a bit of everything on here. I'll head over and watch your video. Cheers Cheryl 😊
