I finally found some time to take on Garuda Extreme! And it was definitely a step up from the usual content I'm used to vs primals in FFXIV.

I remember first time I did Garuda EX. Had to use duty finder, so the queue took an eternity. Then took a while to figure out the mechanics since none of the randoms I queue'd with had never cleared it before too. But the frustrating part was when we finally did figure out what to do and one person still kept destroying the shield feathers immediately no matter how many times we explained it. Pain lol

Extreme Trials are honestly my consistently favorite content in the game. They're more challenging than the normal/story content but not as demanding as Savage Raids and beyond (finding groups in mainly the problem tbh lol)

Same, extremes are hard enough to tackle by yourself and be challenging but not too hard that you need comms or a static

Garuda Ex is one of the easier ones to get in mentor roulette so I don't mind it as much as certain other ones. HOWEVER, it can be painful when you get that one person that just drills the spiny plume no matter how much you tell the group to leave it alive.

Oh this fight is FUN. One of the few I've ever done MINE and succeeded. I got to know Level 50 Scholar very well! It took our team three nights of attempts but it was very fun.

So I know you have long since cleared, but hearing you say "hopefully Ifrit puts up a fight" and me knowing that EX trial routinely wipes unsynced groups because of one of the mechanics made me smile. If you dps him to hard, he actually jumps before you can clear the third nails (he spawns them and then instantly jumps) wiping the raid. it is actually glorious to put in that kind of mechanic that makes you think even at the higher levels

As someone who had to farm the extremes because theres mounts involved and I'm a sucker for collectables like that... Yeah they were fun, I floor tanked like I was playing Dragoon a lot, but once the fight was learned it was real fun to farm out the Honses. And then the Birds from the Heavenswards extremes.

Definitely not as hard as any late game mythic raid boss. Once we knew the tactic it was fairly smooth so I’d say similar to a mid range heroic raid boss or a harder dungeon boss
