You inspired me to go out into my rural Canadian garden and pick a bouquet. Then I lit candles while cooking dinner and poured a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. I went out in search of beauty in my own backyard, just as you show us in all of your magnificent vlogs. Thank you and please know you bring back happy memories of my trips to France 🇫🇷. Merci.

☺️ one unsolicited advice? Do grow to be as old as you can be but refuse to grow up! Life is meant to be playful and light, like we experienced it as a child. Do whatever is in our power to keep that light spirit!

Ahhh,,,,I love to take in your videos when I am laying down for an afternoon rest.....they are so soothing and peaceful....I suffer from a couple of chronic , painful syndromes and find it hard to settle but the peacefulness of your offerings allows me to drift off , rest and awake refreshed . I have also started changing my aesthetic from maximum primitive to minimal uncluttered thanks to you . Thank you for sharing ,,Many blessings to you and yours in 2023 Cherryl from Canada

I am so happy to hear my videos offer a distraction from the pain. It must not be easy to have to deal with that. Will happily make more videos in the next year to offer a little escape to the French countryside! Best wishes💞

@@FrenchCountryLife and I will eagerly await and watch them all . Retirement looms at the end of 2023 for me and my bucket list includes a trip to France . I also want to get back to simple pleasures such as baking bread and gathering bouquets of flowers ( wild or from my newly rejuvenated flower gardens). Bless you for understanding the need for and making the move to a simpler , family focused life at an early age. Wish I had done it years ago ! I am doing it now because my Grandmother always said " you only get one chance to live happily ever after ". I'm taking my chance now.....thanks for the inspiration......Cherryl from Canada

I haven't watched your videos in quite a few months and I'm back at it and wow. You've done great progress and beautiful tasteful style. Now let's talk about that little cottage that you're renting. Can you tell me more is there a link that I can look at the rates and where you're located. I've never been in France but wow that just makes me want to stay there. I have land in northern Michigan that I want to do something off grid but it will be a tiny spot like yours. And yours is just sweet and adorable and efficient and uncluttered and I just love it. Maybe I need to come and visit next year. Please send me all information regarding the rental and such and I'm on now to Moore Videos. Thank you so much you're doing a great great job

What a testament to how time flies, and a reminder that today is just the right time to live! Two questions: Will you then leave the large wooden barn doors behind the new glass ones? That would be awesome! And, do you tend the livestock ourselves? Happy new year to you and your family!
@FrenchCountryLife2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the doors would be extremely impractical to open and close. They take up most of the space and when open they cover the beautiful stones around the opening (that you can't see now). We wanted to try to use them on the exterior but haven't seen a way to make it work. They are huge and heavy and the wall is tilted so they would get stuck in the grass when trying to open them. The cows aren't ours, a farmer from the village takes care of them. But we do look after them as well as he puts them in our field at the end of summer and we really bond with them. Each year when the cows are put in the field we go to greet and meet them!

Love the decor all my favourite colours coming together. I have a question, when you were constructing the sink area you used blocks for the supports/framework, could you enlighten me as to what they are in French? as they looked better quality than the parpaing we see at Brico and Point P. We are on the same journey as you and we like that idea? Hope you can help. David and Margaret.
@FrenchCountryLife2 жыл бұрын
I think you may have seen what's called "carreaux de plâtre", which is not the same (but looks similar) as what we used, which is "béton cellulaire". Béton cellulaire is often referred to as "Siporex" in France, which is a brand name. The plâtre ones are heavier than béton cellulaire but just as sturdy. It depends on where you want to use them and what for. You can find both in any decent sized hardware store that has a "cour matériaux" surely also at Brico and Point P. Ask a conseiller there for advice for your project. You can also follow my husband's KZbin channel @aandefranseslag. His videos are in Dutch but our son is making English subtitles for them in the coming weeks and months. My husband films all the renovation works and shares details about the choices of materials and finishes we made (disclaimer: we make mistakes as well sometimes so always ask a professional for advice, but it may give ideas for your project?)
@FrenchCountryLife2 жыл бұрын
O wait, I didn't see you mentioned parpaing. As far as I know, we (and our professional builders who help us) only use parpaings for structural (gros oeuvre) walls and structures. For interior walls or for building furniture like our kitchen, you better use béton cellulaire or carreaux de plâtre in my opinion. Parpaing aren't really made for this and are usually much bigger and heavier so it makes them less suited for these kinds of projects. Best of luck with all your projects!
@Orwellmatters842 жыл бұрын
Wow , thank you for your response, yes we have used parpaing for the more structural work, but what we saw on your post looked more refine. When the day is over and the dust is cleared I will check your husbands posts. Many thanks. David

Gee I enjoyed this,I felt like I was coming along for the ride :) As you know I am making a huge change in my life by moving to France from Australia and so everytime I watch your progress with your house and lifestyle,I'm itching to get over there and get my hands stuck into some work on my future place . By the way, you look gorgeous with your hair up when making sticky bread :) May I ask why you don't have splashes of colour around your home and the cabin ? Is it due to a certain interior design your after ??? regards Paul
