I’m literally hooked on your videos man. You’ve given me so much insight on the evolution of film as a whole. Your production value is insane and audio quality are great! You should have way more subscribers, and I can’t wait to see your channel grow

T2 was also highest grossing R rated film of all time in '91, passing Pretty Woman. And I agree, I still think T2 is the greatest action film of all time and Beauty and the Beast the best animated film

And it wasn’t even the best year of the 90s, still so many great movies to come!

Oh boy, you don't even know what was worse than the 1991 crash, 1997-2001. Many interesting films that were critically acclaimed or positively reviewed were box office disappointments and bombs. The movie industry had too much films in production and a lot of blockbusters, meaning the others were overshadowed.

One of the notable things that I remember about that year was Barton Fink at Cannes. It won the Palm D'or, best actor for John Turturro, and best director. Cannes decided to limit the maximum amount of awards a film can win is two after 1991.

I think Quentin Tarantino said not too long ago that movies today are about the property and not the stars; there are no movie stars anymore, there's only characters. I'm paraphrasing, but it was something like that. I never heard about this Disney memo before, but it makes sense to see the cycle. I feel like it ties back to how so many people believe it was better yesterday, and how those that only know today will feel the same way when tomorrow comes.

You never got to mention New Jack City and Boyz in tha Hood, that was when movies went to upbeat to hood, along with provocative films coming through

1991 was such a stacked year that everyone always overlooks The Fisher King - one of my favourite movies of all time, and by far my favourite Robin Williams performance.

7:30 We were probably there to see Hook or Fieval Goes West but all these movie posters smell like cinema lobby popcorn. Damn I appreciate my childhood more because of these videos. Hey do 1989, the first movie I ever saw was Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. They played a Roger Rabbit short before it. Walked into that picture house a toddler and came out a little kid.

We saw a pretty lame ass crop of movies out that summer of 91. Sure we got T2, and there were some solid hits like City Slickers, Backdraft and Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, but still it seemed like there was a noticeable lack of product.

He said gang violence in an urban neighborhood (black neighborhood). There were plenty of gang films, going back to the 1930's. But that's not what he said, or meant.
