A Year in the Life ep 1 of 3 1986 (Ett år i vårt liv del 1 av 3)

1st episode of one of my favorite mini TV series ever.
I have been watching it many times during the years since it was broadcasted in Sweden the 26th of December 1987.
A lot of people has been looking for yhis series, unfortunately my copy is from an old VHS from 1987 with Swedish sub but I hope it will give something to someone!
R.I.P. David Oliver (Sam Gardner) who passed away to early, I really liked him!
I hope this version can stay on KZbin until the owners decides to distribute it on DVD

wow its been a long time I have seen this...I did follow to watch when it was picked up as a TV series...I was disappointed when it was cancelled

This is actually the television movie (part 1). It was such a ratings hit NBC decided to make it a series, but the weekly series did poorly. Joshua Brand and John Falsey were also tied to the television series, "St. Elsewhere." Richard Kiley won the Emmy as Best Actor for his work on this show. I'll never forget the ending of his acceptance speech. He angrily said, "I have nothing but CONTEMPT for the corporate utopia that KILLED a fine show." and he grabbed his Emmy and stomped off the stage.

I second Sherry's statement. I loved this show when it came out and was so disappointed it stopped so early that I wrote the network in protest!

Wow~~so much smoking! I keep wanting to go tell them to stop. So nice seeing Richard Kiley; just excellent throughout, and heartbreaking when he breaks down. Thanks for putting this up; I'd never heard of it before. Now I want to see episode 2. Hope it's around somewhere.

I remember this show well it seemed so hip and now when it came out in 1986! So funny to watch something w/ no cell phones and people smoking everywhere. Thank you for sharing this!

THANK YOU for posting this...I loved this show. You definitely see how "Parenthood" (the movie and the TV series) were influenced by it. The guy who played the son who ends up with Sarah Jessica Parker...sadly, he died from AIDS in 1992.

I had just started veterinary college when this aired. It is the first time I remember watching something on television that made me cry when Ann tells her dad that mom was killed. I wish you could post episode 2. The other favorite scene was when David became ill in the bathroom because he was in love with Kay.

I remember this tv show from the 1980s. I thought it was excellent, good scripts, good acting, important subjects. I'm glad Eva Marie Saint is still alive - they knocked off her character in the first episode!

I've been looking for this miniseries for years. Haven't seen it since it was on prime time. People always get it confused with the TV show of the same name, which lasted only one season.
