I agree with you completely. I'm a brand new channel, and it sometimes feels like KZbin is all about how to start a channel; KZbin is on Easy Mode-really? KZbin is challenging. It's hard, and it's hard work. Suddenly, it's like everyone is doing the same thing - as you say, sitting in their cars. I see the same type of intros, such as when to say like and subscribe, how to end a video, and everything else. There are too many people telling people what to do and not doing it themselves - thousands of channels on "How to do KZbin" asking people to pay for their courses. I love how refreshing watching your video was. Thank you.

Hey 🙋🏽♀️- new subbie here. Thank you for articulating what many of us were thinking. 🏆 I’ve been laughing out loud the last month at this scenario of mirrors facing mirrors. I was tempted to make a video but I didn’t want to ‘dilute’ the algorithm. I vowed to stop watching them all except VidIQ and two others, (so time consuming). My eyes are hurting and besides I trust my own instinct so my time will be spent learning some amazing shooting techniques (thx for being so inspiring), staying in my lane and simply creating value for my audience. 🙏🏾

I've been inundated with those types of videos lately and I want to avoid making them even though I know they'll get me more views and subscribers quickly. Getting interesting content to watch these days is difficult. We have millions of videos on KZbin of the same "regurgitated" type, being promoted by the KZbin algorithm. But the true gems - real original stories - are well hidden from us, while their authors are struggling to reach the world with the message. I wish all creators to find their viewers.
@beautifullifesageg.39512 ай бұрын
This is very true. Real stories about real people are of way more value. I’m sticking with my stories. I played the growth video game and it was inauthentic to me. Slower growth is the result, but I’m a happier creator for it. ❤
@LucindaLives2 ай бұрын
I think that eventually we can all find our people. Like Jen said, the growth game is just so inauthentic. I also opt for slower growth and making videos like this where i really try to be creative in conveying a certain message. Sometimes it's a hit in the algorithm and most of the times it isn't, and that's ok!

I have never sat in my car doing a video but I have watched the guru's talk about growth. Good on you for getting paid once that is Fabulous. You are doing great and nothing is easy mode if it is well it probably isn't worth as much. Its hard work but easy if you can get joy from the process. If you would get 10k subs in one month just think about how much that increases the pressure and then possibly the fun of it slowly slipping away. Life is about the Journey.

I think easy mode is being just authentic. I think the growth video just brings a lot more people to the channel. @LucindaLives2 ай бұрын
I appreciate that. And what you mention is exactly what I'm thinking, need to get out of the rut. So here's my solution to it: I am now working on a series about my lived experience the past year, that will have 8 episodes and a trailer. It's something that is going to take time to make and that's mostly for me to get better at filmmaking and learning new things. With every episode I want to integrate something new. So that's taking up a lot of brainspace so that I am no longer so worried about the analytics of my channel now. And it's something I really enjoy. In the meantime, I'm keeping up with my twice a week schedule with just things that are on my mind, like this video. Keeping my brain occupied with the creative side and not so much the growth side for a while. After I finish the series, I'll worry about the growth stage again. At least, that's the plan. We'll see how well I execute

It is one of those topics that might just be ever green. Those videos will stay relevant as long as there's new creators coming to the platform. @@LucindaLives Yes. KZbin needs us, but they don't exist to serve us. They exist to serve their shareholders. Admittedly, treating creators well benefits them. But there is a huge supply of us. So we have to make our channels valuable to KZbin so they are incentivized to enhance and promote us.

I love you making this video. I think I might be in information overload. Like really I probably could use half the time I spent watching those videos actually creating more videos and figuring it out along the way. I’m learning to not rush the process. I think those videos have its pros and cons you can get addicted to watch too many and might feel confused. Also I do need to find my own way and that probably won’t happen until I actually take more action than research. Although I do think research is good too.
@LucindaLives2 ай бұрын
Hey Shayla, I'm sure you've heard about analysis paralysis before. I completely agree with you, doing your research is important. And as a major nerd and researcher of the tiniest details I can get stuck in that "forever researching and not doing anything" mode. Like you said, the magic happens in the action. Putting all that knowledge from your research into action is the key!

Your name STOPPED me. Lucinda is my government name. I don't meet many of us "Lucindas" often. I am passionate about the content that I am making as well. I've been monetized for a while and in the past was getting a payoff about every two months because I haven't been consistent. However, the last few months I've hit the $100 threshold for the last few months. Here's to growing and finding our tribe.

Well there ya go, that's a great reason Sara! Did you make your second video for your 2-month challenge yet? Just so you know, if you miss a day, you're not a failure. You're learning. And getting better. With everything you try, you are getting more experience. I think you are super brave, and I know that you will get the succes you want to have. You got this!

I clicked on this video because the title made me chuckle… It is so freaking true!!! I got caught up in the tornado there for a minute of faster growth, how to get your views and watch hours blah blah blah, but it just started to feel like a big weird circle reminiscent of the motivational speaker/business seminar/multilevel thing… You get my drift… And then looking at someone who blows up and trying to copy what they do and having 1 million people do that… I stepped back and realized I was starting to become annoyed and frustrated that I wasn’t getting all the numbers. I realized I’m in it for the long haul and I want to stay true to the original reason why I started this channel, to bring awareness, to get exposure for my art, and to build a community of like-minded people. Regardless of whether or not I get paid. Any amount of pay would be nice, that’s why I keep everything low budget. I’m not trying to invest a whole lot of money in this, I figure all the supplies and things that I have spent money on already should be enough. Thanks for doing this video. It’s a very fresh take on a very overly emphasized topic.

So glad the title made you chuckle! Yeah, i went through a similar proces also feeling frustrated and annoyed. But I really started this as a creative outlet and to have fun with it so that's what I've decided to focus on. Thanks for sharing your experience with us Susan!

I love this video. I thought it was really interesting. When my channel was originally going and I was using it to help support my clients and to grow as a nutritionist I spent so much time effort and money on learning how to grow it and I kept on feeling like I was hearing KZbinrs say it’s so easy to grow, and say the content might not be that good if it’s not. Which quite frankly hurt my feelings because actually my content as nutritionist was both well done and genuinely helpful. I hated having to use the Clickbait weight loss titles in order to get views because that’s not actually what my videos were truly about. I spent a small fortune doing a course and I did it literally to the tea and this is when I was posting consistently. Still nothing. So this is why now in my new era I make videos what I want when I want and I focus on getting a little bit better with each video because creating videos in order to bring in new audience just feels exhausting and takes away from my experience.. it also seems to be there are people who are brand-new KZbinrs who post their very occasional very good videos and grow massive audiences. It’s a minefield and I love your message that we will all get there in the long run. X

Hey Cee Fee, I also spent way to much money on KZbin courses and coaching. I think on the one had it wasn't totally wasted because I did learn some things, mainly what I don't want to do 😂 But in the end I have no clue what wil work and what won't work on my channel. It's a great big mystery to me and I've just decided to keep having fun with it. I really do believe that our time will come! Keep creating!

I like it when the young, Bikini Class, pretty girl says KZbin is on easy mode and it has nothing to do with luck. She gets 29K in a day. Meanwhile dude, with chili dog stains all over his shirt, pulls tractors out of the bushes with a pick up truck that the state police want to impound. I make sure to go to his channel and comment: " You got this ", "Don't quit", " Most underrated guitar player of all time" ( okay, maybe not that last one).

While I do agree that pretty privilege is real, I also think that all of us have some type of unfair advantage that we can tap into, develop, nurture and then share with the world and become successful in our own right!

4:28 I agree, I see a lot of video essay type videos now and I like them, but it seems like creativity is lacking the last couple years. 15 years ago, and even during the Vine era, things were different.

Don't be fooled. People aren't blowing up because they are filming in their car. The term blowing up is relative. Most of those channels had very few subs and views and now they getting slightly more. If you look at their channels they aren't great. People forget you still need a personality and have something to say.
