Websites are a great way to have your own space online. Now that you did that, think of having a blog. It's also a wonderful experience. Reading other people's blog is also really enjoyable. And there a plenty great ones out there being frequently updated. Finally, a more mindful social media that you can try is Mastodon. The way it works, with federated communities, makes it quite different from the others.

I love this! I’ve been thinking about these things recently and I feel like TikTok/instagram is for idle viewers and KZbin is for active viewers wanting to gain something valuable. I’ve also considered swapping my smartphone out for one of my old early 00’s flip phones but being in a long distance relationship kind of makes me reliant on that connection to the world we have now! But I just miss life before smartphones so much! Can’t wait to check out your new website and I don’t think being off other social medias matters because KZbin really feels like its own entity now! Your continued growth is coming! Also I know you’ve mentioned living in Florida before so I hope you’re keeping safe ❤ looking forward to the next video already

We live a little North of Miami so I think we will be ok from the storm. I think the worst of it will be likely flooding and wind. It's already been raining so much now. I do feel terrible for the people on the West coast of FL that will be hit for the second time in two weeks. Oh, with respect to the flip phone. I'm looking into this thing called the "Light" phone. an alternative to the smart phone with which you can only call and text. I might just get one. The thing is tho that I talk to my parents on whatsapp and I use my phone as an external monitor for when I film in bright sunlight. So I'm not sure how to mitigate that. Otherwise i would've gotten rid of the smart phone a long time ago. Thank you for watching! Next video is in the works as we type 🤗😉

Hi LucindaI just discovered you and I love this video☺ My name is Shelley and I am 60 years young and I grew up much like you did without a cell phone, without Social Media, and without computers actually. Social Media to me is just not a real look at people's every day life. It's a fashion show and who has the better items. That is my impression I have been battling back and forth about getting off Social Media and starting my own youtube channel about simple living. Slowing down and start actually living, showing the messiness of every day life and not have the perfect home. You have definetly sealed the deal for me in getting the heck off Social Media and really lean into KZbin. Thank you so much for sharing a timely video it is appreciated and so needed♥I am going to check out your website and you have gained a new subscriber I am a fan!!!

Great video! And very on time for me; just over this weekend I was deep in the mountains, where you could only use the Internet after climbing a mountain for 2 hours up (and then 2 more hours down) :) When we went back, I felt surprisingly sad about returning to places where I had unlimited access to being online. Like I was gonna get sucked into the endless drama and arguments again! Even though I never really participate in them, just hear about them from some friends. I'm not sure why I felt this way only now, this is far from my first trip to nature. But now that I'm back in my normal schedule I want to try to reduce my online time. I don't use social media as much to begin with, and I don't scroll for more than 15 minutes at once, but because I share my art (mostly drawings and writing) online and have a lot of international friends I do get a little caught up in things sometimes. Making a small website to host my writing is also something I thought about before, but really not sure where to begin with this so far, especially since I write about lesbians and that's forbidden by law here. Now, it's unfortunately even easier for me not to use social media, as a lot of it, including youtube, is getting blocked or slowed down here in Russia. Just today I lost my access to discord and my one art server I enjoyed and had many friends in. Oh well, there are still ways to connect despite what the government is trying to impose in us. Anyway, again, great video! I found you a few weeks ago (I love when youtube randomly recommends me small channels) and have been really enjoying what you put up here! A lot of it really resonates. Sincerely, a 24 year-old woman from Russia.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. It's hard to imagine that here I am with all the access in the world and I'm complaining that I need to get off social media. Whilst for you the access is curbed by the government. Such a different world. Gosh, I can't even imagine what it's like for you. All I can say is to be careful with what you write as I don't want you to get into trouble. I'm glad the videos found their way to you and that they resonate with you. And thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. It's such a pleasure to learn about people from people all over the world.

I love this so much, I love your editing, it must take a long time to plan and film all the shots but it looks fantastic! This is exactly the type of content I'm trying to make in regards to how I shoot and start my videos so you are a huge inspo for me in that regard. Websites are my main job, so I love that you are starting one! It's so nice not to rely on a social media algorithm! But there is Google search to consider but if you're not worried about getting views from search, that's fine. I also overdo things, too. Like with this KZbin thing - I'm deffo spending more time than I intended on it to say I have my main work and family life to also consider! In fact, I have to go now because my 3-year-old is trying to hit the keys on the keyboard :)
@LucindaLives3 ай бұрын
It does take a bit of effort, but it isn't too bad I don't think. It's all about the pre0production. Planning out the shoot and then the shoot itself and editing don't take all that much time. You're doing great on your channel, a great variety of shots! I really have a lot of learning to do when it comes to SEO and Google search. I would love it if my website becomes discoverable on it's own since I'm starting a blog on there as well. I know, old school. But I've always wanted to have a popular blog and now I'm really trying to flex my story telling muscle. A blog seems only fitting. Say hi to your 3 year old for me! Also, must be getting cold already where you're at. My parents say the temps are plummeting (they're in the Netherlands), fall is coming!

I think You Tube is social media and TV mixed together so you can get lost even deeper in it. I love that, your head is where your feet are...never heard that before. I never carry a phone. Have one, an IPhone but have no apps on it. You are preaching to the choir with me on this. People are on the phone all day but never call anybody... I find that quite ironic.
@LucindaLives3 ай бұрын
I didn't come up with that quote, I heard someone say it but I can't remember who so I couldn't credit them. But it's definitely my mantra now. Have you ever heard of the "Light" phone? It's like a dumb phone that you can't even put apps on. If my parents didn't use whatsapp and if I didn't need my phone to create videos (I use an app as an external monitor so I can see what I'm filming in the bright sunlight) the i would absolutely get a "Light" phone. Just texting and calling. The latter, you're right... nobody actually talks on the phone anymore.

KZbin i think is a form of social media, but not in the same way as other platforms. You get more choice of what you want to watch and not bombarded with stuff you might be interested in because millions of other people liked it. I love your content, you always make me break away from the norm. And I think that's one of the beauty's of KZbin is you get to the end of a video and you can choose to stop watching, and go back to finish watching at a later date if needed. I dont find KZbinanywhere near as addictive as other platforms. Unlike other platforms where doom scrolling is a real problem. (I don't watch KZbin shorts so no doom scrolling on KZbin for me) Love the idea of a website over social media. It just generally sounds more appealing.
@LucindaLives3 ай бұрын
Can I just say that I love your puppy calendar!!! with that out of the way, I agree that you're far less likely to doom scroll on KZbin, only if you stay away from shorts. Then again, they say that a good way to grow your audience is to grow through shorts. I'm staying away from them for now tho. Good luck with deciding the direction of your channel, you got this! Thanks for watching Ash!
@ashjvlogs3 ай бұрын
@LucindaLives aw thank you 🥰 I tried shorts and found my subscribers grew quickly but the views on my videos went down, and so did my watch hours, because youtube was recommending ling form content to my shorts subscribers and obviously they didn't watch it, which then negatively impacted the search optimisation. I then saw several videos about the psychology between a shorts viewer and a long form viewer. And I decided it would be better to be long form content only. I prefer making long form, it's more enjoyable and relaxing. And I prefer watching long form too. I still need to catch up with some of your videos but I always watch them when I can. The way your videos blend together is magical, and so appealing and relaxing to the mind. Anyway sorry for the rambling 😅 looking forward to your next video!!

I put KZbin in a class on it's own. Kinda like Substack. The frequency required for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X to stay visible is detrimental to your pysche long term. With KZbin, you can build on consistency and quality vs. quantity. You'll do a lot more up front, but as you build an audience, you can move to weekly, and monthly, and after six years, if you choose to lose, the residual ad revenue is a steady income stream. A wellness creator who's friend hasn't posted in two years and she makes $5-6K in ad revenue. Mind you, she was an early adopter in her field (one of the first and racked up 250K followers).

My personal email is read once a day. FYI, I attended a conference in Yokohama Japan earlier in the year and I saw a presentation relating to humanoid robots, the presenters said in a couple of years they see a market for their new humanoid robots larger than the automobile market. This development will have major implications for our society. BTW, the female robot they had on display was cute and sensual and was warm to the touch, I could live with one of them. Smile. One thing I noticed about social media is that there's a bunch of hypocrites. I always wish social media never existed in the 1st place it's like religion it can divide family and friends you will have those who want to support and those who pretend to support by laughing and giggling in your face but behind your back they are wishing for your down fall. I'm 43 since I joined this social media thing which was introduced to me by one of my cousins on fb in 2007 it has been the biggest mistake I've ever made. Here I am 17 years later still using social media which I thought I could connect with others when I'm feeling down I have people telling me I complain too much but never want to congratulate me on my good side as an only child with no brother or sister it's hard

Let me tell you, that's absolutely something I struggle with. Because on the one hand I want to make sure I reply to everyone that's taken the time out of their day to comment. But on the other hand I don't want to see the analytics all the time. I now have a rule that I only check once a day, reply to comments and that's it. It also affects my mood and my ability to keep creating. If I make something that I'm really proud of and it doesn't do well i get super discouraged. So it's better to just let it go.
