MLP is back on PC and consoles with "A Zephyr Heights Mystery", and while it's not perfect, it's a huge step in the right direction. I break down what works, what doesn't, and wax way too much about game design on the way there.

I got to say the Zephyr Hight Mystery was a big improvement from the first game in a lot of ways. This was a nice review that gave some interesting points on this game.

Hey, Gator. Thanks for the shoutout, and I like your review on the game. Currently I'm putting Any% for MLP: AZHM on hold for a little while (My World Record run is now sitting at 53 minutes 21 seconds of Game Time) and moving on to try and do 100% runs. To this day, I'm still finding tricks and putting out guides to share with speedrunners.

Thanks, that means a ton! It helped me a ton to be able to thumb through your guides to figure out how you were pulling off all the minigame and cutscene skips.

It's actually really funny. While watching I had forgotten you said you put the Discord ping into the video. (I blame the ADHD). Then when it happened, I immediately remembered again.

Nice review! I hadn't been planning to get the first game, but won it in a raffle in someone's livestream of it. Don't think I'll get this one, but hey, maybe if it's on sale.

My favorite MLP game is a mod for the game "Hearts of Iron 4". The mod is called "Equestria At War"

Great review! I'm not a huge gamer myself, so I don't know about things like "verbs" or "primary gameplay loop", but what you said definitely makes sense. I fully agree with you that it's much better than the first game but also with how the ending fatigue doesn't do this game any favors. At least this time, I felt like what I had to pay for it on Steam was at least somewhat worth it. The Steam version does indeed run much better, though you need a modern enough GPU for it to actually run smoothly, which I thankfully did with my RTX 4060. Here's hoping the inevitable sequel set in Bridlewood is going to be even better!

Depite its flaws, im glad kids/fans got a decent new game! After the Bluey game there.. wasnt much to beat lol

I had no idea the game exists on steam - and I love the detailed explanation :) The price is steep 36$ for a not that 'high quality game' - you get close to Baldur's Gate 3 if that one is on discount :I Though I have to admit I like they gave each pony their own moveset- they could have easily gone with 'reskins' in that regard, so its nice to see some thought.

Yeah, I won't fight anyone on that price point, $40 is still a bit too much. But I trust everyone will vote with their wallet.

If you want a really good stealth game, go and play The WereCleaner. It's not the most advanced stealth game, but it's a lot of fun and very charming, and mechanics work pretty well.

2:45 main 6? ... so Misty is part of it? because you only have 5 otherwise... unless you count that lil dragon (which nobody does lol not even with Spike! 11:51 alright I see her but- she isn't playable as far I've seen so far HMmmm not sure if that counts ^^" 7:41 *literally in the movie* :I They snuck around quite a lot around the palace ... - Hitch even had a disguise!

Misty is a playable character, and "A New Generation" is a movie, not a game.

@@gatorgoatjohnny Ah she is. Didn't see her gameplay so I was wondering if she just was "there" Ps. / Does she have a special move set?? // And yes it is a movie... In which they snuck past guards ;) I think it fits the franchise/game well. The implementation is easy to understand (for kids). It's also hilarious considering two of them are princesses and could just walk past the guards... 😂 The sneaking also reminded me of Metal Gear Solid at the start. All that's missing is someone chasing hoofprints! Baldurs Gate 3 does the same sneak system btw.. you also got vision cones and whatnot.
