Excellent video! Cant wait to dig in to my A1 and repair it. I like working with my hands anyway, so this should be fun. Update: My replacement heat bed arrived today. Installed it very carefully in about 45 minutes. Taking my time to ensure I didn’t pinch any wires, and to ensure that all the vital steps were completed properly. Not very difficult at all - and I’ve never replaced a heat bed on any printer before. Very cool Bambu!

I have been amazed with the engineering and design choices of this printer from start to finish. The fact that an unanticipated design flaw is SO easy to replace is amazing, and not to be taken for granted

When extracting the cables you could tight them with a piece of rope/string. Then pull them out, and you can use it for easier plug of the new ones. Just tie a knot and pull back

I never had the AI but I bought the Prusa MK3 kit a few years back. I can tell you the quality of this printer looks light years of the Prusa one. Putting that one together looking like it’s held together with tie wraps it looked like something from the 60s. This looks like what a open bed printer should have looked like from a company that was suppose to be one of the top 3d printer companies

Yeah, I had a MK3 and a MK4 they worked well, but the P1s and the A1 work as good and as mentioned there is no comparison, The Bambu is industrial quality, the Poor Prusa looks like a high school project

My new bed just arrived today! Replacing it was easier than I thought it would be. If you can remove hex screws, you can replace this bed. Took me 45 minutes with multiple interruptions from family. If you watch the whole video beforehand, you could do this in 20 minutes.

The large bottom cover was glued on by the sloppy application of that white hot glue. It was liberally applied around the power supply then the cover was installed before the glue set. The same glue made it difficult to route the sensor wires and tape them down. Calm down with the hot glue!

Is it imperative for European users to obtain a certificate in order to use the machine and have warranty? If so, you will generate many complaints and return requests. Many, including myself, have based their decision to keep it on the understanding that it would not cost them a single euro more, and now you come out with the requirement of a certificate for its operation. A certificate that in some cases will cost the same as the printer.
@Bigpopp1

I guess they need to give people in the EU another option if this is the case. Maybe the option to return and get the credit towards purchasing the fixed unit?

@@its-movietimeA certificate, in terms of an electrical installation, is a document that verifies that the installation has been carried out in accordance with applicable electrical regulations and standards. This is exactly what BambuLab is requesting at the end of the video.

Bambu doesn't require this, your goverment does. It is a cover their ass statement. You do the repair and don't get it inspected and your house burns down, its not their problem kind of thing.

I only want to ask, what are the best items to buy from discount we have got after the replacement? Heatbed Nozzle Wiper and Hotend with Nozzle 0.4mm as spare items? Anything else? I am not heavy printer but I know anything can break after some time, but I do not know the weak points of the 3D printers...

Are we required to pay a technician to certify that we have done the procedure correctly?
@Pidrittel
@Pidrittel 2 ай бұрын
If you live in the EU - yes. Of course, you can just not do it - no one will care, unless your house burns down and insurance refuses to pay. But I find it rather dodgy that BambuLab requires this... it is their responsibility IMO.
@Morrunyo
@Morrunyo 2 ай бұрын
@@Pidrittel In my opinion, if you give the option for the consumer to fix their own printer, but do not advise that this option requires paying for a certificate, you are giving incomplete information. Furthermore, we also have no confirmation that not having that certificate eliminates the warranty, when they told us that there would be a 6-month warranty. I guess we'll have to stay tuned for new clarifications from Bambulab. Some people in Europe are asking for refunds or opening tickets for clarifications.
@SkateSoup
@SkateSoup 2 ай бұрын
@Morrunyo it's not a warranty question, it's a legal one. I think there was mention about this in one of their announcements, but it was a small mention inside the larger announcement. In some places in the EU and some other locations, by law people are not allowed to do repairs themselves on parts of an electronic device that uses mains voltage. You either have to have a qualified electrical professional do the work, or have one certify your work as being safe. Not like police will break into your house if you don't, but if an event happens and the insurance company can relate it to the device and you don't have that certification they may deny your claim and you will have to pay for all damages. No fires have started from the faulty beds and shouldn't start from the fixed ones, but it is up to you to decide if you want to take that risk in case something does happen down the road. They didn't call that part out too loudly in their announcement so I imagine their customer support may be a little overwhelmed right now as this has come out. Hopefully they will respond in the right way.
@Morrunyo

@@SkateSoupThanks so much for the explanation. So you are confirming that Bambulab is going to maintain the warranty on the printers in Europe without us being obliged to pay for the certification?

The electrical certificate requirement (EU specifically) is for legal reasons as this video is applied to a domestic device operating on main supply. I would say it would be logical for everyone to heed the note. They do state you can do it yourself, but they (Bambu Labs) take no responsibility/accountability if you fail to get it properly checked by a qualified person to ensure the device is safe to operate as intended. Although I am not an electrical technician, I suspect the checks would be: 1. There are no potentials for an electric shock from the modifications, and 2. There are not shorts which may cause a fire. While both are low if the procedure is followed to the letter, it is better to take a penny of prevention rather than a pound of pain. Besides if the printer fails you have a leg to stand on knowing the certificate is there to help with any legal claims.

I can' t remove heatbed cable 2:10 - it's just completely stuck inside. just doing what instructed it's dead jammed inside printer body
@slicedpage
@slicedpage 2 ай бұрын
You have probably fixed it by now but for those concerned, don't be, If you have the printer as it is on the video do what the man said. Pull the inside part of the black cable toward you so that it comes out of its clamp then at the same time pull the front part cable from the outside. It will come out. As will all the cables attached to it, wiggling may be required. If you are still struggling to remove the inside part it might be glued, so a little more force is required.

That certificate thing is really annoying! It wasn't stated before and not part of the deal! BTW: I guess you will hardly find anyone who gives you a certificate for a this machine with this background. In case anything happens, the signer of the certificate will be in charge. Show me someone who is naive enough to do that.
