In this video we go step by step through the process of replacing the bed on the Bambu Lab A1. This printer was recalled and everyone was given the option to return/replace the printer or hold onto it until the new bed was ready. Well new beds are shipping and although Bambu has an official guide I found some things along the way that should make the process a bit easier.

Thanks for the very useful video. I just received my A1 from the 2 Year sale and found that the Bed Cable was very twisted and during nozzle cleaning the cable was being hit quite hard every time. I opened up the panel with the six screws as you described, and I untwisted the cable a full 1/2 turn which solved this and looks exactly as you show at 11:55 minutes in your video. The printer was sent to me with the cable incorrectly installed! It was easier to fix this myself with your video guide, than go back through Bambu. Much appreciate your video. Thanks heaps.

Just finished mine. One thing I'll add is that some parts of the repair were easier for me when the printer was oriented on its front while leaning the uprights on a spool. It was a pretty easy repair for any hobbyist who turns a screw. While inside, I also rerouted the second ground wire so it wouldn't out any tension on the bed cable. Honestly, the tape was the hardest part for me. Great video! Thanks!

This seems like a pretty technical job. There are many points where mistakes could easily be made. It doesn't seem advisable for anyone without good technical experience. Certainly not kids. Opting for the factory replacement would be safest unless you are certain of what you are doing.

Only "issue" is feeding the new cables through the center hole/channel separating front and rear of printer base. Just use a zip tie. Feed the zip tie from the front of printer towards the rear of printer through the hole. Tape the new wires to the zip tie and pull the zip tie back towards the front of the printer till the wires are through the hole. Untape wires and continue installation. Hope that helps

I got so confused with the holes on the bed. I assumed all 8 holes lined up with the 8 holes in the brackets on the printer. Apparently its just the 4 bottom holes that line up.It looks odd. And yeah, the mesh and white rubber end of the cable had me confused too. Not as easy as it sounded, but not really bad either. Nice video!!

Small tip with self tapping screws you want to screw back in: Insert them into the hole and turn them in the unscrew direction first until you feel the screw going down slightly. Then proceed with turning it the screw in direction. Doing it that way avoids cutting a new thread or damaging the on that was already there

@cnc-maker

I don’t have an A1, but I see 1 flaw in the instructions. After removing the old bed, you should immediately install the new bed and leave the cable dangling until you are ready for it. Then you don’t need to switch back and forth, and should be able to do this with only 2 orientation moves. P.S. Using a black anodized or painted fastener for grounding is bad. From the video, it looks like they did that for all grounding points. They should be replaced with fasteners that are not black anodized or painted.

I believe that way “remove bottom panels, disconnect wires, unscrew old bed, attach new bad, connect it to motherboard and return panels” will be little convenient than the way Bambu lab suggested.
@ModBotArmy
@ModBotArmy 2 ай бұрын
Thinking back on the process I agree. One less time flipping the printer around. I dont see how having the bed loose made it any easier to remove the cable underneath. Maybe they think the bed wont be sliding on you? but that doesnt really make sense since they have you put it back on before doing the final electrical routing.

I recommend not positioning the printer as described in this video , or as indicated by Bambu labs. First of all, use a flat surface that is entirely level across the area you’re using, so not different heights as in this video. Also don’t position it on the left, as the print head will move and rest on the sensor and if you installed the scraper, it will touch that too. Instead, rest the back side on top of a box that is ca 10-15cm (4-6”) high, making sure the bed cable is free and raised above your working surface. Then lower the entire top bar down to your working surface . This provide a MUCH more stable position of your printer, and makes it much easier to work on. Also, the video linked from trimming is the bed installation video, not the trimming video.

This does not look "difficult" but it does look tedious as hell. I also wonder who is liable if it fails again and sets your house on fire. Ican see Bamboo arguing you screwed up the install instead of taking responsibility. Better to have them do it.

Have you replaced it yourself? Then you. Has bambu replaced it? Then bambu. Has a electrician signed of the repair? Then the electrician, which was kinda the whole fiasco for EU citizens. Most electricians dont sign off work others have done, let alone with parts they dont know. Of course given you actually find one that has time. Most will have a look, but wont take over the responsibility in case something happens, hence no sign off. Bambu realised that and they took over the responsibility, yet im unsure how much this holds in the case of a fire and liability case, hence ny answer that the owner is responsible, just to know the worst case.

@kilianlindlbauer8277
@kilianlindlbauer8277 2 ай бұрын
We also thought of that when creality announced the k1. Reality is its cheaper, but also objectively worse (extruder still bad, k1 and k1max have horrible vfa, creality is a joke, nozzle leaks all over the place). Knowing anycubic, we can worse customer service than creality and several open source licence violations. Also, how would you make a MMU more efficient? With single nozzle and multiple filaments you will always have to purge. The amount you have to purge is determined by two factors, colour, how much filament is left in the hotend. The longer the hotend, the more filament is left. You can ram out a good chunk of the old filament so you need to purge less, but you are always inevitably wasting at least one length of your hotend worth of filament per swap since you have either forced it our before the swap or you are purging it out with the new filament. So either anycubic has shorter hotends, so less purge but also lower print speed, or they are cold pulling filament, which means a huge amount of time is necessary for the colour swap, even with ceramic heater hotends. Cold pulls for colour swap are only viable if you have a inductivly heated hotend (yes, these exist, team plasmics has launched them over a year ago) which have heating times of mere seconds
