It never ceases to amaze me how much we underestimate dogs and their roles in society. Dogs love the training, discipline and family dynamics. Seeing one of these dogs in action is a true credit to the hard work that goes into training them.

My dog is a family protection from a1k9 he is a brill dog good with kids and he no the diffrents between a threat and not he nos when to attack and when not to when you say nicely he be nice brill dogs

I went to an initial discussion at the Cork A1 K9 centre and was told that obedience was achieved by withholding food which then had to be earned by the dogs for compliance. This method works, it is emotion free and was widely used in Japanese in Vietnam and other prison of war camps to achieve the same results.

I see there's executive and standard on the site. Can I ask what the difference is please?

The two dogs in the video are both exec level, trained in off lead protection and to a higher level than the standard dogs. Most of the dogs we have are Exec level trained. can your dogs differentiate between an attacker and some poor bloke out for a run who is running towards you. Only that people jog where i live

I forgot to add in my last comment that I did not go ahead with the training. I want to have my dog as a happy companion and will not subject it to this kind of training. I will find another way.

A1K9 Dogs I appreciate your response however I am a little confused how one brand name used by both schools would accommodate completely different training methods. Is the brand name meaningless in this regard and what does it stand for in that case? I am not saying you are wrong, only that I don't understand this.

Mr Burman, it is the bain of my life that others appear to be using variations of our name and are not connected to us. If you look at the trademark office website, you will ascertain that A1K9 is a registered trademark belonging to my company A1K9 Ltd based here in the UK. I think that others may try to trade of our good name but once again I re iterate that we are not in any way connected to any of these other outfits. Regards CW

Great video and well trained dogs. I have one question though. At 1:58 the dog barks at a perceived threat, (bad guy in bushes). The bad guy runs away and the dog is then released to tackle him. What are the legal ramifications of that? Surely with the "threat" running away the handler wouldn't be in danger any more. Would releasing the dog not be considered assault due to the fact that the danger had passed.?
