I was an IT technician during Y2K, I serviced PCs in the banking sector in the US. Y2K was very much real and was a complete pain in the ass. It was mostly mitigated by Congress passing a tax bill that allowed corporations to depreciate IT infrastructure at an accelerated rate and increased tax deductions. We were busy ripping out servers and work stations 24/7 to avoid bad code.

The cloths feel off for the era, like modern versions of the original product. They should have watched films like 'Virus' released in 1999, and take note of the special effects used. Simple things could have made it feel more like then...

I was like 12 during y2k we went to a party at my dad’s friend’s house in the country, they did the countdown…his friend went inside and shutoff the breaker and everything went dark and everybody out there was just like “awwww 😞” No panic, just disappointment. Then he turned it back on and came out laughing with a beer in his hand to cheers. Such a 90’s thing to do.

One actor/singer I've followed his entire career since he started rapping in the 80s then became a TV and movie star. But he did one action at an awards ceremony that I now refuse to listen and watch anything he did and will do. I just can't support anything those actors/producers/singers are in regardless of if the movie might have been decent or not.
