Imagine HP was a company that saw this and made a kit to make a cnc from their old product and also reduce e-waste in the process

can we get a more in depth guide on how this was done? I would love to do something like this.

You mean more detailed than the blog I wrote about the build...and the details around the upgrades I did to it in the same blog area? :-) justcheckinm8.blogspot.co.nz/2014/01/converting-a3-printer-into-cnc-machine.html

Do you have webpage with more details? Very impressive build.. ;)

Hey Bertus..thanks for the comment, and I did that edit as requested :-) No site/blog/details as yet. Once I've finished setting up the end stop switches, I'll do a writeup with some detailed photos (minus panelwork so you see the horribleness underneath). Cheers.

did you use the steppers that came with the printer or bought for this project?
@justcheckinm89 жыл бұрын
+Aaron Villanueva The motors in the printer are not suitable as they are simple dc motors. I bought Nema 24 stepper motors and paired them with the A4988 drivers and a protoneer CNC shield for an Uno R3

God those lead screws are loud as fuck.
@justcheckinm89 жыл бұрын
They're not lead screws..they are plain threaded rod. The noise is coming from the stepper mounted on the steel chassis plate that used to form part of the paper tray. It is amplifying the stepper noise. The machine has gone through an upgrade which reduced the noise. The vacuum cleaner I use for the dust collection is the noisiest part now.
