Is there an equivalent twin engine taxi in for the A340, A380?
@tomstravels520
@tomstravels520 11 ай бұрын
A340 is ENG 1+4 with Blue ELEC pump on. A380 I think is the 2 inner engines as one does yellow hydraulic and other does green but not 100% on that

Thank you! i wondered when i once flew on the a320, after landing i noticed one engine was shutted off and a mechanical sound keep humming until parked at gate. It turns out to be the sound of yellow ELEC pump as you demostrated in this video. Besides that your power managememt on ground was so great!

A lot of our aircraft in our fleet have had electrical modifications that allows us to SETA (Single Engine Taxi Arrival) without the APU. I can’t remember what they’ve done (I’d need to check), but, this allows us to shut down engine 2 and do single engine operations without the APU being turned on. This is identified on our flight plans and in the tech log as a BNTC (Briefing Notice To Crew). Just make sure you remember to turn on the APU before turning on stand! 🙈 Also we have a few more limitations for SETA. Not in LVPs, slippery conditions, major upslopes or terrain undulations and a number of existing technical defects that will affect us. Namely, ALL HYD need to be working including the yellow elec pump, GEN 1 & APU GEN serviceable, ENG 1 BLEED serviceable, PACK 1 serviceable and normal and alternate braking serviceable and NWS operates normally. Different airlines will have slightly different SOPs but that’s ours. 👍

I think they wired the fire extinguishers directly to the batteries so if eng 1 suddenly caught fire and power goes out the extinguishers will still operate…… or something like that. I’d rather always have APU on just incase GEN 1 suddenly stopped and you loose electrical power. But I know it’s for fuel saving reasons Are your mods only for NEO’s?

@@tomstravels520 Yes…. Bear with me on this as I’m just regurgitating some of the stuff I’ve read. In no distinct order. In my outfit, ALL NEOs are already SETWA (Single Engine Taxi arrival Without APU) capable. The company is retro fitting all CEO aircraft (A320/319s). “On a non-SETWA equipped aircraft, where the APU must be running to perform OETA (one engine taxi arrival) (Eng 2 shutdown), in the event of an engine 1 fire and after switching engine 2 master off, only bottle 1 squibs are available and bottle 2 squibs would not be available. This is reason to keep the APU running on non-SETWA aircraft so that in the case of an ENG 1 Fire, both Bottle squibs are electrically powered. The SETWA bulletin (SB) is a wiring modification which maintains electrical supply to bottle 2 squibs even when on “batteries only” (as you say). Therefore, in the case of ENG 1 Fire during OETA, even without the APU running, 2 fire extinguisher bottles remain available, and you retain fire protection”. Th threat with SETWA is a GEN 1 failure on taxi in. Although the SETWA reliability is very high, it’s worth considering what happens should GEN 1 fail. In the unlikely event of a GEN 1 failure, the electrical system will be in EMERG ELEC BAT ONLY. NWS will be lost, Normal braking will be lost, Alternate braking and parking brake will remain available, The aircraft MUST be stopped immediately using differential braking if required. APU must be started and flight crew can resume taxiing when the normal electrical configuration is restored with APU GEN supplying the AC BUS. SETWA provides benefits for the airline. It delivers fuel and ground noise reduction, It reduces maintenance costs. Especially if APU maintenance is based on hours rather than cycles, The APU burns Approx 2kg a fuel a min equivalent to 6.3kg of CO2. Thus, it’s better for the environment (a big hot topic in many airlines). It seems minor but multiply these savings over possibly 40,000 flights a month and airlines can save a lot of money. As Professional Pilots, we’ll always try to make flights as efficient (but also as safe) as possible. So, it’s a good initiative to have. 👍

Really cool! I flew with Vueling and they use this a lot, I was wondering if you knew how much fuel can be saved doing this, in an airport like Madrid or Barcelona. Is it around 30kg? Casue the APU also uses some fuel and you need to add more thrust on number 1 engine. Thank you for the videos!

What do you think about inibuilds developing a new A320neo, which will come with SU14 in December and will most likely be free? It will have a similar fidelity compared to their A310 or even higher

Really isn't when FBW even though its okay still has a long way to go. Guaranteed Asobo asked Ini to create and to make it work for the Xbox. At least it will be a lot better and they know people would go for it.@@A330Driver

I did, not really surprised. At the delay that is. As for it's reason, I've seen developers make up reasons for all too long, I believe it when I see it. Goes for any Addon by the way, that's nothing Fenix specific.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but by starting the APU did you not actually do a two engine taxi? Technically speaking of course.

Hey there! I'm not sure if this really answers your question but the APU is kinda an engine, usually referred to as a jet engine or turbine engine but it burns a lot more less fuel than having an engine at idle, with the electric gen running it burns around 100kg/h while the engine at idle burns around 300.
