I learned something!! This types of videos are the ones I enjoy the most. Always trying to learn more about airplanes! Thanks mate.

At easyjet, we always perform packs off takeoff, unless it's really hot or really cold

Great video as always, thank you! I was wondering if you would do a video on noise abatement procedures in Europe and US? I am curious what is realistic.

Finnair would do packs-off takeoffs as SOP every time for the longest time, but switched to by operational necessity only after they discovred increased wear to the packs

In the 737 I always do Packs on, because I don't have a copilot to remind me to switch them on again. It happened to me quite a lot that I didn't notice that they were off until I was at FL200 and the Cabin Pressure warning horn went off. In the Airbus the aircraft will tell you to switch them on again. Just like you said in the last part of the video.
@guiduz34699 ай бұрын
there's always check lists that serve as reminders. packs off are a must for many airliners in some specific weather and runway conditions.

Takeoff with the APU on. Bleed valves are closed and APU supplying bleed air to the pacs. Same thing as pacs off.

Thanks for this video Emanuel! I’ve been wondering about this subject. I do have a question (perhaps might be a good topic for a video?): When would you use the Force TOGA option in the EFB performance calculator? I’ve never used it, and I’ve never been given a full TOGA takeoff by default yet, so I really don’t know the context for why you’d use it. Thanks for the content, it really is fantastic!
@A330Driver9 ай бұрын
Hi, mostly when windshear conditions exist or if any maintenance procedure requires a TOGA takeoff instead of flexing. The MEL might also have some items where TOGA might be required.

Awesome video thanks so much for sharing! I've been flying the Fenix A320 alot And I definitely appreciate knowing more information. Do you know if Fenix Has modeled the performance differences between packs on and off Engine characteristics? I have not been able to notice any difference but I haven't done any type of quantitative test either.

Great video! When do you turn them off for takeoff and when to you turn on again?
@NightingaleVictor9 ай бұрын
Typically, anti-ice usage on takeoff is when you’d leave them off. Once you are clear of clouds at a low altitude, anti-ice comes off, and packs come back on. But packs come on after takeoff regardless of anti-ice - if you want your passengers to be able to breathe in a pressurized cabin! 👍🏻 Edit And this is to save fuel on takeoff by not redirecting air from the engine to the cabin! It saves money for the company and saves Earth haha 🌳🌎

You turn em off when entering the runway and turn on after thrust reduction, one at a time and 10 seconds of espacement

Great video! Question- if I do a packs off takeoff, how long after takeoff should I turn them on? Is it at the thrust reduction/acceleration altitude?
@PBW8919 ай бұрын
He said within 40 secs after gear retraction.
@ahmadsamir77724 ай бұрын
In Airbus pack 1 on after thrust reduction and 2 after flaps retraction to avoid excessive sudden pressurisation

After takeoff, at what altitude you turn ON the PACK1 and PACK2 in the A320?
@A330DriverАй бұрын
You turn them on once the engines are in climb thrust. Ensure ten seconds between the two packs.
@yanniskouretas86889 ай бұрын
Does the ECON switch of the A321 plays any role - or it's only for when there is not much people in the cabin (I think less than 160 but I can't remember right now) thus the air cond unit doesn't have to work in full capacity ?

So just to reconfirm to see if I'm correct or not, If I'm taking off a runway with a full length of about 5800ft, alongside maybe flaps 3, I would prefer to do a packs off takeoff, for the additional performance benefits associated with it?
