Say thank you to multinational corporations and capitalist monopoly, for they surely devolve into communism. What is the difference between a communist worker and one who work for a big corporation, when both are not responsible anymore for the quality of their product, and just like in communism they wait for their monthly salary, whether the business in on profit or on deficit? And the beauty is that they can always justifiable put the blame on bureaucracy and on the owners. When in communism if the product was bad and filled with ideology, the state just printed more money to cover the losses, and in capitalism if the woke ideology and bad quality does not sell, the group prints out money. Both the communist state and the corporate group are just concerned with the amount of money printed, not to rollercoast the inflation.

The main driver behind ballooned budgets is that a studio employs thousands of people to do worse job with better, more efficient tools than what dozens of people could do 15 years ago. Vast majority of those people are not even directly working on the game but are filling some auxiliary roles, such as the mentioned Sweet Babies. But the quality of game devs have also dropped through the floor, and outsourcing to 3rd world shitholes does not help.

Indie games and new hit IP's like Palworld and Hi Fi Rush prove that you don't need ultra realistic graphics and insane budgets. A great story/gameplay/mechanics/idea will always trump graphics. It's just a nice thing to have, not a necessity. As an example, although I love Forza and Gran Turismo, I'd still rather play Racing Lagoon on the PS1 or Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3/Drift 2 on PS2, than FH5/FM/GT7.

I'm still playing Palword every day, single player only. I got addicted on day one, and I've reached the 1000 hours faster than in any previous game since Space Invaders, including Fallout games and Skyrim. One reason for it is the total failure of AAA in the last years. Because I do have standards, most AAA developers and their games are cancelled now, including any game with a life service, an in-game shop, or a Todd, in it. I once was used to playing a bunch of different games at the same time, Halo, GoW, FEAR, Mass Effect, Fallout, Red Faction, Saints Row, but since years, I'm practically bound to one decent game per year (or to older games, I've already played too much), and I need to play it until I get exhausted of it. And it needs to be a surprise hit because I've learned that no game/slop/whale trap announced by a Todd deserves the hype. It's otherwise, it will probably be the worst game ever from the developer, with no sign of competence and love in it. This time around, it's an early access indie title for 25 bucks, and it's so much fun despite all the flaws. It's the proof that you are a fucking muggle (or a criminal trying to launder your dirty money) if you wasted seven years and 200 million bucks with your quadruple A game with an all-time peak of 500 players.

AAA gaming simply has become corporate design by committee and accountants for maximum shareholder profits instead of passionate creatives developing for fun and other gamers. Greed ruins everything and AAA gaming simply has become pure greed.

One reason studios no longer put depth, inside jokes, political references etc in games, is because players today are so stupid and ignorant, they would not get any of it. So why bother to put depth to games just because 10% of gamers still are smart enough to enjoy and appreciate that depth? No. they are making stupid games for stupid players, that's what it's all about.

Yeah, the story and characters are maximum ESG compliance throughout. But on its own, the story isn't actually half bad. Except for huwyte men being the baddies throughout and POCs and women being the heroes.

Disney is hurting, when you see their commercials offering specials round season, thry are hurting. As they are feeding of generational Disney fans, who love the classic Disney animations, icons, and materials. Disney cleverly adds newer iconic themes throughout their parks, but popular ones, like Star Wars a recent addition, not even originally their franchise. That's how Disney survives, like a rat, in a mouse costume 😂. Eating other rats to grow.

NO they cost too much too make, theres games that cost 1/4 of what these AAA games cost and the small budget one does 1000 times better than the AAA, sorry AAAA games can dream of. Just like movies these movie studios spend a half a billion dollars on them and a film that cost 8 millions crushes them in the box office. Sorry if you have to spend 200 million to develop a games and spend 7 years making said game and it bombs chances are your doing something wrong.
