Loved the video. Super cool to see something so old be restored like this. I noticed a couple times where you have to be really careful when removing a part and thought of something that might help with that, there is this lubricating oil rust prevention thing called rust patrol (may be a little outa the price range for this sort of thing) but works great on making super rusted things less rusty and could help with moving those parts around. I’ve found that it works better than WD-40 for preventing rust and in most cases with gettin rid of it.

@bow-tiedengineer44537 ай бұрын
The first one was almost believable, but I literally can't believe that meat grinder was actually abandoned for long enough to get that rusty on the outside naturally. That bailing wire wrap clearly served no purpose, other than to hold on the caked on clay, and nobody would wrap something in a load of bailing wire like that for no good reason. Also, there's no way the wood handle would still be that nice after being exposed to the elements for very long, and the metal would have certainly corroded enough to be pitted and for the screw to not turn when you turned it. At most, someone burried it in clay for a couple weeks. It's honestly sad, there's plenty of actual cool stuff at scrapyards that you could actually get good at restoring. I have a cool old vice I started working on, and it's been fun, and I'm bringing something back to life that would have just been melted down.

We get it, you don’t like it. Watch something else. The whole point of this video is for the ASMR and the transformation😂
@bow-tiedengineer44536 ай бұрын
@@Zadya_Owl-Anchor It's the principal of the thing. If you enjoy the ASMR and the transformation, there are hundreds of channels that also have that, but are actually restoring things and not just faking it to get clicks. I'm quite partial to Hand Tool Rescue's content, but if you even just look at the recommended content off of theis video and just click around, you'll find much more legitimate restoration projects done by people who actually care and aren't deceiving you.
@XO.DumbHoe5 ай бұрын

@@bow-tiedengineer4453 I understand where you’re coming from, I mostly like his videos because of how fake they are. He adds so much extra dirt and muck to it, it makes the restoration much better. I’m sorry if my reply hurt you or offend you, as I look back the comment was quite harsh. I simply watch this man because of how he over does it. I will look into the more into those videos as they seem much more educational and realistic. ❤️❤️🧦
@bow-tiedengineer44535 ай бұрын
@@XO.DumbHoe That's the thing, though, stuff can sit in the back of a building for many decades and still be restored to working order, and even some stuff that seems unsalvageable can be restored. Just look at some of the various steam locomotive restorations, like those really rusty ones that were pulled out of rivers and such, they look nearly as bad as these ridiculous fakes, but it's a different kind of awful, and requires serious work to get working. I think that's why I hate this sort of content so much, it feels like they are faking having that sort of incredible skill and perseverance required to fix something in truly terrible condition. It's sort of like stolen valor or something to me.

It does, actually. Rust has layers, meaning some layers are harder than others. Although I’m sure there are plenty of layers of dirt and mud trapped inside, rust occurs when moisture meets metal. The lock was underground, meaning tons of moisture, as well as the probability of mud.
