Aaliyah actually had an almost 4 octave spanning vocal range. she had a really strong, resonant voice but preferred to sing with raised larynx or in falsetto for stylistic choices. there are some songs and live performances where she's blowing like the 90's diva. (such as The One I Gave My Heart to, I Care 4 U, Givin' Up, Street Thing, Journey to the Past,Never Givin' Up..)

Aaliyah actually had a great voice, she just chose to sing in this laid back cool smooth style, but there’s a couple of ballads that showed what she was capable of vocally. I believe she would’ve eventually started showing off that side of her voice more and really grew into being recognized as a vocalist vocalist. Just my theory.

Jack, this song is not about Aaliyah taking another girls man. This song is about a guy who is trying to kick game and be with her when he already has a girl. She’s telling him “if your girl only knew ....” and also telling him that she’s not a ho, “it ain’t easy to get with me.” Just thought I’d inform you since I heard you say something about how Aaliyah is straight up saying she’ll take your man. Anyway, I’ve an Aaliyah fan since day one when “Back n Forth” world premiered on Mtv. “BabyGirl” is so missed. But still so loved. The Princess of Hip-Hop and R&B.
