So yeah, Brandy and Monica were definitely having MORE success in 98. Bigger billboard hits and bigger album sales.

@@6ixboss608 obviously because of the fued hyping up the song, plus I just said they had mainstream hits mostly brandy because she had her show, doll, and movie deals, but that alone doesn't mean you have the overall appeal. Aaliyah was part of an independent label so the promotion behind the song and the rules back then for the charts prevented are you that somebody from being higher on the charts.

I started to listening Aaliyah and seeing her in movies in the mid-90s when I was in middle school. She had family in Detroit where I grew up, my best friend’s mom worked with her aunt. It was a dark day when she passed, one of those days you remember where you were when it happened, she was a once in a lifetime talent! It’s awesome to see the next generation appreciate her like I did ❤️

Her choreographer Fatima created MOST of her dance moves. Her fashion stylist Derrek Lee was the visionary behind her signature clothing styles. Her hair stylist Eric and her other makeup artist Eric Ferrell created her signature makeup and hair looks. She had an amazing team of people who became her friends... she always acknowledged in her behind the scenes videos and interviews. Much respect to them as well.

I've heard you say in a couple of Aaliyah's video reactions that she made her own dances. But to my knowledge, Aaliyah credited Fatima Robinson as her longtime choreographer. She is actually in this video dancing on the left side. Fatima is a legendary choreographer in hip hop/R&B/Pop/Rock & everything that included dance movements especially in the 90s and 00s. Fatima was one of "Babygirl's" best friends and one of the last people to see her alive after the "Rock the Boat" video shoot.

Its a baby lol because Aaliyah’s nickname was Baby Girl. Also she did this last part of the video (updated version of the Flamenco) because people always tried to (and failed, laughably so) to clown her for never dressing feminine. I found it very funny when you finally realized a baby was making noise in the beat. It was all throughout the song if you listen closely. That baby noise was always ominous sounding to me, but it is one of my favorite elements about the song.

Timberland was also great with Missy Elliot. Timberland was very popular back in the day, his beats seemed to be everywhere. It was known that the song would be great if he was on it. Timbaland also produced Brandy's album "Afrodisiac" after Aaliyah's passing. His work with her is also phenomenal and he called her The Queen on one of their songs "Who Is She 2 U". They collaborated a lot since then. Justin Timberlake's R&B stuff with Timbaland have also been dope. But I do think the contrast of Timbaland's hard beats and Aaliyah's soft vocals are nice. I think he has dope chemistry with a lot of other artists though. U just gotta get into their work.

You noticed the baby laughing at the end 🤣. I was a jit around that time but I remember people used to talk about the way Tim used that in this beat. In terms of duo, Missy & Timbaland are undefeated. They're the most genuine and creative tandem. They used to be in the studio making shit that they liked, not what was going on at the time, and it made a huge impact on the game. They didn't have as many hits but the Neptunes and Kelis were a great duo (trio if you want to be specific) as well.
