I still remember the first time I ever heard of bitcoin and it was from when Andreas was on Joe Rogan's podcast and I was SOOOOOOOO convinced and interested that I was so close to buying an entire coin after that episode. The price was 13k Canadian at the time(if I remember correctly) but I only had 10k that I could afford to spend but stupid me didn't end up buying any bitcoin because I didn't have enough for a whole coin. That's a regret I'll never forget. Luckily I eventually realized 99% of people don't buy entire coins at once and they stack sats over time.

9:30 Halving rewards doesn’t represent a 50% drop in supply, just a 50% drop in NEW supply. Yes, it’s true that the total amount of Bitcoin getting reduced would warrant a proportionate increase in price, but that’s not been the reason for the double or more price increases following a halving. It’s more than likely bulk buying to support the profitability of the mining efforts facing the reduction in subsidy.

Commenting on video to help with engagement algorithim, but I have a lot of interest in learning specifics of mining: hashing, difficulty, solos vs pools, why your likelihood to solve a block is entirely based on your personal hash compared to the entire system hash, how does a solo score a block vs someone in a pool, is there "luck" involved and how does that work, are miners hashing the exact same nonce/solutions as other miners, or is that variable? I probably have more questions....

I believe you’re conflating a shift operation - which always shifts a zero into the open bit - with a rotate operation, which operates the way you describe, moving to shifted off bit into the open bit.

The original block reward was 0b100101010000001011111001000000000 Sats. Each halving shifts (not rotates) that right by 1 bit. The 10th halving will be the first one to drop a one. That halving will reduce the block reward from 9765625 Sats to 4882812 Sats (1 Sat less than half).
