When we visited Interlaken, we walked the entire length of the Aare River,
within the city limits. Also known as the Aar, it is the longest river that flows entirely within Switzerland. It originates from the Oberaar glacier in the eastern Bernese Alps and flows through lakes Brienz and Thun and is about 295 kilometers long. It is a tributary of the High Rhine.
