I actually get the sense that Boone is just as frustrated about having to be a puppet and defend the Yankees’ philosophy at the podium as he is about the team’s dreadful performance. Let’s face it, he played baseball in an era where none of this having to follow analytics was going on, I’m sure he wishes he had more control and it’s making him boil inside. That being said, he may have to be the casualty when all is said and done, deserving or not. Someone has to get fired for this. If nobody is held accountable, everyone employed by the team including the players notice that, and nothing will change.

Apart from Soto, what is going well for this team? After the third batter, the lineup is a loser. Wells and Cabrera may be the third and fourth best hitters on this team! Verdugo, Torres, Grisham, the uber-pathetic LeMahieu, Davis, Jones,...what jokes playing for a team with post-season aspirations. Stanton is over the hill and as fragile as a porcelain vase,. As for pitching, Cortes, Cole, and Stroman look lost. Who knows what Rodan will do next. Gil looks just so-so the last half dozen outings. Boone is the master of the obvious. No spark, no fire, no accountability. I now think it's doubtful that the Yanks will beat out the Red Sox to make the post-season. Cashman must go, finally. With one or two exceptions, the whole roster is a sick joke.
