The caller was probably a bit too emotional meaning some may dismiss his opinion but I agree whole-heartedly with his views. And can we really blame him as yankee fans seeing this garbage time and time again? And them defending the decision to play J.D Davis but not Cabrera is laughable. As bad as cabrera may or may not be against left handed pitching J D davis is 1-16 (.062) as a yankee with most of those AB's coming against lefties. AND he was cut from a bad team before that. AND he was fresh off an injury. IN WHAT WORLD is that a better option than a hitter who may be catching fire and maybe hits .200 against lefties? And whats more lets hit this guy behind judge meaning he gets to weigh down Judge's performance as well as the Mets dont even have to pitch to him. As a Yankee fan that grew up on 163St and Sherman Ave less that a mile from the Stadium, I’ve seen those great 70’s teams and later on the worst Yankee teams from the 80s to the 90s ( plenty of heartache). I’ve come to the realization years ago that sports is not worth raising one’s blood pressure or losing control as it is just entertainment. It is not that serious. If these pro players can’t figure it out, it is pretentious to think we as the consumers can resolve the issue in hand. I think having Soto leading off would be a good move because he walks a ton and also could homer, I am sure he could steal some too even though he isn't fast per se but he isn't slow. Then go Verdugo or Volpe with pitchers having to pitch from the stretch which could help those two hit better.

I think what Paul maybe couldve argued is if Soto was 3rd and Judge was 4th. Perhaps someone at 1st or 2nd in the linrup could walk then Soto walks as well or hits a base hit then Judge can have a 3 run homer at the 4th spot.

The reason why you wanted your best hitters 3rd and 4th is because 1 more batter with an opportunity to get on base means either now you have to pitch to them or now they can drive in more runs. The likelihood of them getting pitches to hit or getting rbi's increases when you have one more batter ahead of them. That was the thinking then but it's not the thinking now. Now they want them to get more AB's and batting earlier I'm the lineup does that. The caller didn't really know how to articulate that. It's not for no reason tbh but that's just not the way we do it anymore. It is what it is.

How can you fault Boone when Cashman has given him the worst bench in the league. I agree with Michael that Rice was due to sit down. Boone also needed to rest Wells who had caught four games in a row. I also would rather see Jones playing rather than Grisham. Grisham can’t hit to save his life. And yes, Davis stinks however, I still think they would’ve walked Judge four times no matter who was betting cleanup.

I’m so sick and tired of all the Yankee announcers sugar coating DJ and Trevino. They both suck saying how great of a defensive catcher he is and framer when he has the worse rated arm strength in mlb. He should be playing 1x a week for Wells to rest and DJ should only play if we run out of players on the bench. None of these announcers are non bias. And DJ will definitely go down as Cashman or one of his worse signings giving a 32 year old a 6-90 million dollar contract. He’s useless buy him out at years end. I’m tired of hearing them say oh he is getting better swings he showing signs. The only signs he shows is that he’s washed up. No one needs to go also he’s horrible with man against the staff and the lineups. Torres should never be in the leadoff spot. Wells is our future. The Yankee franchise in is a very bad place and the future doesn't look very bright because if you go from position to position, the Yankees next season may need 708 new positional players. Catcher is a dead spot on the Yankees, They do not have a major league ready first baseman and Rizzo appears done, Torres will probably not be re-signed, so they need a 2nd baseman, 3rd base has been a black hole on the Yankees for several years, Verdugo has proven that he certainly is not a solution in left field, as his sub .230 BA and very with hitting for a corner outfielder means you need a left fielder. To carry a light hitting corner outfielder, implies you are getting outstanding offensive production from non-traditional positions such as catcher or the middle infielders, which simply in not the case in NY. If Soto is not re-signed than the Yankees will also need a new Center Fielder. Having Judge play center is less than optimal to begin with, because it taxes his legs and body more, which results in fatigue as a long season unfolds. The bullpen is an absolute mess, even if the offensive was hitting on all cylinders, who could have faith this collection of arms could every hold a lead in a big game. Every single one of the NY Yankee relief pitchers are prone to walking batters, pitching to contact, giving up base hits, and serving up home runs.

There is almost zero strategy during the game...no steals, no bunts, no hit and runs to stay out of the double play...no hitting to the right side of the field when trying to move runners to third base...I think the coaching is pathetic...when a player goes into a month long hitting slump where is the hitting coach...if he can't help the player make adjustments then what does this say about the coach...Boone has to go...zero ability to motivate these players...by the way, did you ever notice how they all echo Boone's talking points in post game interviews...they are all drinking the Kool aid from the same bowl!!
