Do they really not see the difference between Gleyber struggling the entire preseason and regular season vs Volpe slumping for a few games? Even with the Volpe slump, care to compare their stats? Lmao They totally missed that “I felt strongly that Gleyber needed to move down” was a diplomatic answer for the sake of protecting Gleyber? It’s much more forgiving than saying “he’s been terrible all year”…. Especially considering public perception partially colors their career options. It’s good guy Boone protecting Gleyber, not babying Volpe

I personally like sticking with Volpe in the lead off spot because in baseball there’s two ways to struggle. You can struggle and then just be bad or you can struggle and develop and Volpe has shown that he can struggle and learn something from it and considering the organizations setup I think that’s the best bet. I said it at the time and hindsight confirmed that sending Volpe down last season wouldn’t have helped and I think they’re taking that same mindset here which I don’t mind as of right now. When DJ comes back that may change things but for now I’m perfectly content letting Volpe learn
@aaronkahn46084 ай бұрын

Yeah - for content creators and commentators - its a hard balance between 'always needing to have a take and something to say/'hot'-take' vs 'contradicting something you said last year and dont remember'. Does he come across differently off the field? I don't really watch interviews at all. It'd be interesting to know. Just cause slurred speech or lowered vocabulary - when compared to him previously - is a huge giveaway. One nice thing about baseball is that he's unlikely to get hit in that part of the head again, potentially giving it time to heal. CTE is (obviously) worse in sports with repeated hits. Just saying if you're right, at least that might fix itself given time and no more getting hit there.
