@jessejordache1869 Жыл бұрын
Apparently it's a new rule as of this year. It looks ticky tack, but when the rules change and people's sense of what is and isn't a penalty doesn't change with it, you get casuals saying things like "Sauce Gardner commits DPI all the time", because they're ignoring that the league changed the rules for PI -- there's no longer one standard for "physical" wide receivers, and zero tolerance for physical cornerbacks). So, if it's a new rule, I'd be hypocrite if I didn't ignore the fact that it *looks* ticky tack. On the other hand, the unnecessary roughness against Jermaine Johnson was some bull******.
@kirkykirky Жыл бұрын
@@jessejordache1869 i get that it's a newly enforced rule, but good lord. my point is that it's ridiculous since the defender could have easily made a tackle there if he wasn't blocked. what's next? tackling too hard is a penalty? i get why JT, a former QB, doesn't like hits since the league went overboard protecting QBs and they all no longer like being so much as touched (mini rant over), but come on! I can remember games from the 1970s when on a play, typically ST returns you may have seen 3 to 5 blocks like that on a single play. Made for a really exciting game. Then again in the 1970s you could still pick a QB up and slam him headfirst into the ground. But I do understand the reason for rule changes over the years.
@jessejordache1869 Жыл бұрын
@@randilla4149 I think this one may be part of the whole move by the NFL to rule-change punt returns into irrelevancy. When I was coming up, throwing a flag for clipping (that's a block to the back for people who didn't use the same slang as me and the other 8-year-olds playing in the broken-glass littered park by my apartment) was only occasionally enforced. A block to the side is most likely to be useful during a return: with the offense, if a defensive player is in a position to take an angle to a ball carrier, you can generally block them from the front.

One thing I noticed in this video is that Roger's get almost all his passes off in 3 seconds or less. I also wanted to mention I recently saw a video on Roger's that he doesn't go over the middle very often because there is a higher risk of an interception. He throws more screens and to the sidelines where if the balll is off target or deflected it goes out of bounce. I was wondering if you could check into that and even make a video. First of all, you can usually assume that DCs who prepare by watching every play that an opponent has ever run are aware of everything you and I are. Anyway, Rodgers is less likely to pass over the middle, but that doesn't mean he never does it. If defenses play to cut off short routes and go routes, they'll leave big holes in the middle. Rodgers has been like this for his whole career, as far as I can tell -- he had a big "what not to do" in front of him named Brett Favre. I'm quite sure defenses have taken a shot at exploiting it, but I haven't seen any evidence that it's been successful. Off the top of my head, I can't think of an easy way to do it: if you sell out on Rodgers' favorite routes, you're stretching the field vertically. The OC would get an overloaded defense without even having to scheme it up. Point is, it's not something that defenses can really exploit. Instead, it's a self-inflicted handicap: he doesn't always choose the best target, and he risks leaving yards on the field. The best thing a defense can do is... nothing. If they clear out the middle, they'll quickly learn the difference between "never" and "less likely".

I'd also like to thank the Giants for passing on Garrett Wilson, The Rookie of the Year and WR player Rodgers repeatedly calls "special." He already looks like he has a Devante Adams level connection with Rodgers. The Giants have been without a WR1 for all 5 of Jones's seasons, and now the Giant's WR1 is some guy cut from another team...and they still passed on the Rookie of the Year! Joe Douglas ran circles around Joe Schoen as a General Manager and that's why I'm expected a deep playoff run for the Jets...but the Giants will be lucky to see the playoffs again.

He is more talented physically but Starr won 5 Titles and the first two SBs because he had the persona of a champion. After the loss at SF, AR-12 was definitely in a different space. There are subtle differences between TB-12 and AR-12 but those meant 7 SB rings for TB and only 1 SB ring for AR, but AR made a lot more money, drank fancier Whiskey and took a bunch of “trips” to discover himself. Jets thought they were slick finally bringing out their 1st team to play against giants bubble guys 😂. Their 1s have played 0 snaps against starters so far...not smart imo. Esp with that tough early schedule.

Rodgers really didnt play well last year, im a bit surprised everyone is expecting him to return to form with that o-line.

That's just flat out wrong though. If you actually watch the tape he played good. His numbers didn't reflect it because lack of team production. He was still a top 10 QB in almost every category.

Nice to see the Aaron could play in the preseason for the Jets but not for the Packers.
