One of the most underrated players in NFL history. That D-Line of Aaron, Hampton, Keisel and Kimo was so dominate. The edge rushers always get the glory but I think every single one of them would tell you that it all started with whatever three guys were doing majority of the dirty work. I'm not trying to take away from those edge guys, because it does take a great pass rusher to the damage that they did, but those D-Lineman were as important to that defense that generated all those sacks. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I would love to see Aaron in the NFL HOF some day.

Kimo!! Haven't heard that one in a while. Big fan. Anyone who knows football knows that line was the reason that "D" was what it was. The difference in yards allowed with/without Smith on the field was ridiculous...for his whole career. Best true 3-4 lineman ever. Be surprised if NFL ever sees lineman like him, or "Big Snack" again.

Aaron was such a beast. Kind of like Cam where the stat line doesn't jump out at you but the impact is immeasurable. He's one of my favorite low key Steelers. (Troy is all time #1)

@@Alan_Page I remember once when the Steelers were going to play the Patriots, Coach Belichick in the press conference during the week before the game said the same thing about him. I’ll never forget that. High praise from a great coach.

This was cool. I think all young guys should listen to this. He bought into the team’s objectives, didn’t take it personal, played his role and laid it all on the line for the squad. Respect 🖤💛

I remember telling my friend who graduated from Northern Colorado congrats on Arron Smith getting drafted by my favorite team! Funny thing is he grew up near Cincinatti and he was a Bengals and Broncos fan. I saw Aaron play at Northern Colorado as I lived in Greeley for many years back then.

He was definitely underrated. Rarely, if never, gets talked about amongst the elite D-Lineman of that time and majority of NFL fans probably don't know who he is or forgot about him, which makes him underrated.

I'm hoping Logan Lee can mold his game after Aaron Smith & Bret Kiesel. So awesome Aaron made the Hall of Honor! Theses highlight are great & love the interview. Echos what Casey Hampton said in his interview about them being true 3-4 defense.

Easily one of the most underrated players in Steelers history, and an underrated NFL D-linemen in general. I used to call him “the unsung hero”. His is one of the jerseys that I am proud to have and wear.

Aaron Smith, you define "salt of the earth." The fact you sometimes doubt your greatness is what made you so great. Just a classic "bring your lunchpail to work" mofo that this city will eat up. I'll never forget how often they'd cite the Rushing YPG against the Steelers Defense with and without Aaron Smith. The difference was jaw dropping. When you were on the field, I would literally laugh when teams tried to run the football. And if you know, you know. That 3-4 DL is everything. 3 guys gotta handle 5 and win. Maybe 4 if you trick one. And them boys are big. Respect.

Coach Smeltzer never begged anyone to stay on the team. He had an open door policy. It worked both ways in or out. There was a starting QB who left the team to go box. Coach told him where to turn in his equipment. Smith was good but not great.
