For me what the Course explains is that the special relationship is for the use of the ego a body with another body, the Holy relationship is for the use of the Holy Spirit to bring us closer to God. When we understand this the relationship is completely changed to one love.

Fabulous video. I learned last year what unconditional love was and it blew me away. Source loves us unconditionally, doesn't judge or control us. This is the true essence of relationships. It's taken me over 6 months to integrate this concept and I'm still practicing it. Nice to find another source that reinforces this truth! Society tells us the complete opposite and it was so confusing. I wanted the other person to change and felt entitled to my demands. Oopths ❤

Grateful to have found your channel. I am a recoverying divorce lawyer and have been interested in ACIM for years. One of the things that hit me was that in the worst divorces, the parties are invested in the 'specialness' of the relationship. The higher the letdown each one experiences (where their own needs weren't met) the more acrimonious. In holy relationships we get into giving to others and not holding on to 'what can I get' from this relationship. In those cases where the parties divorcing 'get it' that it just didn't work for them and channel their eneregies on successful coparenting or making the best of things, the divorce experience is actually healing, with all family members better able to move on. I like the mask analogy and will use that in the future in my work.

Lost my partner 3 years ago to a sudden heart attack and have been attacking and guilting myself for the last three years because of all the imperfections I contributed to the long relationship. The death was so sudden that I didn't get to say my apologies. However the chart that you presented here allowed me to see that our relationship was really 95 percent holy rather than special and that really flips my viewpoint immensely. Had to chuckle at Mark's comment. After he died, I was thinking of how many times I scolded myself for always blasting him about his driving skills. He always left me panic stricken and white-knuckled in the passenger seat on long trips It was only silly things like that that comprised the other 5 percent. Thank you sooo much for this enlightening video.

The keys to initiating a holy relationship: 1) There must be an agreement between the two people to give up their individual purposes for the relationship. 2) There must be an agreement to accept the Holy Spirit's purpose for the relationship instead. This purpose is wholeness, or holiness. It should be noted that there is a period of disorientation and upheaval. That is a period of faith. 3) Thoughts that you would keep hidden shuts communication off and defeats the new purpose for your relationship, which is to learn what wholeness means. 4) and lastly, you must practice forgiveness because there will be many times when guilt is projected and attacked. The one who is projecting in these moments needs the greater sanity of the other (i.e. needs their forgiveness) in order to heal and be whole. May this answer questions for those who have them. Stay well, everyone.

So when it comes to the Holy relationship I have to add that there's no way to base it purely on service or "wanting nothing" it's much more like not needing it for avoidance of pain. Desire/Want is what moves as, so it has to be there. The difference is that the reason for an advanced relationship is changing aspects of your experience (But you're fine without it - You're not running from pain), your own personal growth and desire to serve. BTW. That doesn't mean that you can't be in pain going into the relationship. I'm talking about your motivation being growth and by that freeing yourself rather than trying to avoid it be the experience itself.

@@annaharris626 Desire is not a condition. A condition is for example - if the desire isn't met then something. But of course there's always something. If desire isn't met you fell certain way (Depending On you). But in conscious relationship you know its showing you something about yourself and not the other person. The other person has no thing to do with it. Desire is a condition in relationship only if you make the other person in some way responsible for it. And The thing is your reactions are entirely your own. Of course you look for someone who you react to in the Best way. But its still you reacting and really true unconditionallity is just about the lack of judgement, just acceptance. The role of a partner in a spiritual relationship is just that - Showing you this things. Until something can trriger a negative reaction - You now on what you should work. So the partner serves you - always - and you do the same. Even if you don't know it. So a condition really is - Don't make me fell certain way. And the lack of it is - thank you.

Im surprised to see that in those kind of videos a "warning" is never given to people who try to apply those teachings with a lack of a "bigger picture" understanding. If a lets say "abused" person applies it they can become very vulnerable and in great danger because they try for example to simply "give" or "love unconditionally" etc. I personally know many bad stories resulting from this. While ACIM is great as a book and a tool those kind of "advices" given out of context or incompletely can be very dangerous.

You can't control how people treat you. What you can control is your acceptance of the Holy Spirit's interpretation of their behavior for you, which is always forgiveness. Setting boundaries is a function of special love relationships. It sounds good and healthy, but in reality it's an agreement to be divided but "safe". The Holy relationship is different in that you make an agreement to be whole with the other person. This is the invitation to the Holy Spirit to give His purpose to your relationship in the place of your special purpose, and in His purpose is the true meaning of love learned. If there is no agreement, then you have countless opportunities to practice and learn forgiveness.

T-17.V.7. Now the ego counsels thus; substitute for this another relationship to which your former goal was quite appropriate. 2 You can escape from your distress only by getting rid of your brother. In other words, breakups play no role in the holy relationship. Holiness remains your intent. However, the sanity of the other may be so compromised that an apparent "break" is necessary. The "break" has only to do with outward conditions, not inward content.

So, a question I have is if one person is aiming for the holy relationship, sacrificing their dualistic egoic mind in doing so, yet the other wants to continue holding onto their conditions for love. Is the person aiming for holy relationship just supposed to accept all the T&Cs of the other recognizing that is merely their little "i" self behaving in such a manner simply reflecting back their authentic "I am" presence of unconditional love in hopes that they will wake up or until they decide you no longer will morph yourself to satisfy their ego and throw in the towel on the relationship entirely.

I think it's like until you see your life and the unfairness is just a story and it's not real. Until WE see the world as it is WE cannot see anything as it is. Which is all Love. It's like if I have a dirty smudge on my camera lens the world will be stained in every aspect of my life. I understand completely because I also feel the same but I'm trying to unconditionally love the world without expectations. I do believe what is said about a universal power that is running through all of us and it's the same. Like the electric in your house isn't better or more advanced then the next it's the same.
