Here it is 2021, just to stay current. I own a bunch of air rifles and the majority are Hatsan. I "could" buy any brand I want, some may take longer to pay off, but I choose Hatsan because they are the best, from MY experience.

The Gladius is a great value for what you get , Here in the U.S. it comes with a power adjuster and in the .25 caliber and the features are more than what you would get on guns you would pay $2000 or more on .

Hi first of all thank you for all info and a super channel. I have got a Hatsan gladius (long) in cal .22 (5,5 mm) I’m trying too shoot it at full power (abouve 12 fp) but the problem is that those two scopes I’ve tried it with does’nt work. When I’ve zeroed the scope the Hatsan shoots in the center for 3 or 4 times, then out of the blue it shoots 3-4 inches high. I again adjust the zeroing and it shoots good for 3-5 times again and this procedure keeps repeeting all the time. The scopes I’ve been trying is Nikko stirling diamond long range 6-24 x 50 and Nikko Stirling target master 4-12 x50 and both of them react the same way. I’ve also tried with 4 different mounts, both cheap ones and expensive ones. I’m starting to run out of ideas of what might be the problem that’s why I’m reaching out for some kind of info that can help me. Aprox 2000 rounds of pellets later I’m both sad and mad about the performance of the gun and the scopes. Tips and tricks are welcome. Plz excuse my poor English as I’m not English spoken .

I've got a BullBoss (basically the same rifle) in 6.35. Great piece of kit but without the bells and whistles of the Gladius. Shoots great with JSB King 25.39gr. They are the same price (Shogun) but for a little more you could also go for the gorgeous BullBoss with wooden stock. Better order a bipod with it because they are a bit on the heavy side.

@@ronheeringa6158 Choices, choices... Like I said, basically the same rifle, The Gladiator was a bit to bulky for my taste, but that is every ones personal preference. What I really like about the Gladiator , is the adjustable power setting, great if your backyard is not that large but you can have all the power if you can find a longer distance shooting range. No matter what you choose, I would still go for the .25. They really pack a punch and pellet speed remains subsonic, increasing your accuracy.

Long time since I had any need / use / access to firearms but I’m thinking of starting out (soon’ish) with a uk sub-12 foot-pounds PCP air rifle, purpose would be target shooting & occasional small vermin work. If I want to go higher power, I probably can but do I want the hassle of a firearms certificate? With some archery in my background, I also appreciate quiet shooting so I’ll avoid even the ‘ba-doiiing’ noises from springs.

Absolutely fantastic review Andy , and beauty certainly ( specially in this case ) is in the eye of the beholder , first point being when you said " if this were a meal " I expected something different to " it would be a steak " '.. well !! , id have said " dogs dinner " , theres just way too much going on with it , looks , well , like a " JOHNNY 7 " and it really shouldn't ( I loved my johnny 7 , and nothing can compare ) .. I suppose if you like " weighty" this would suite ya ..personally id take an R10 into the field ,and carry a sack of coal on my back for that " weighty " effect ...id probably sum it up by saying its the Hatty Jacques or air rifles / bull pups A its got character B. Its large C. Its ugly D. Its heavy One of the good things being is that its quiet , which is great , because I wouldn't want anyone to notice me carrying this monstrosity around with me ... I concede it is accurate and the 20fps is inconsequential , my Daystate with certain ammunition has a spread of 20fps and still stunningly accurate ... Too recap ...great reveiw ugly gun ... keep up the good work

Hi Andy, great review. One remaining question: What is the damage capacity of the projectile at 40 mt? Is there a technical way to measure the impact power of the pellet? Compared, let say, to the impact of a regular Hatsan air rifle, and of a .22 caliber bullet? The quiet operation is a sweet feature, but since I would like to use it for hunting it would be important needed information before committing to a purchase.
