Hi Andy, it amazes me that if this rifle delivered one sixth the power and fired a plastic bb you would need a UKARA number and be over 18 to purchase this gun. But because it delivers six times that power and fires a lead projectile you only have to be 18 years or over. What crazy times we live in. PS I do love the look of this air rifle though.

SMK/Snowpeak? Well, I like a a pellet rifle to look like a pellet rifle. With a nice wooden stock, beech or walnut are all ok by me, not too keen on the huge buddy bottle config though. Horses for courses though it's all a matter of taste, some even like the AR15 or Jonny Seven as I call them, manufacturers have to keep the money rolling in. After years of Rimfire and Centre fire, I still prefer the pellet guns and own several, and even a springer! Still remember my first real gun, a BSA Meteor, I bought it new from a local sports shop when I was thirteen about £15. Walked into the shop with my friend also thirteen and walked away with this beautiful new pellet rifle.

I quite like this design although I did prefer the one with the wooden stock that was available from SMK a few years ago, but having shouldered one I found it quite nose-heavy for a PCP. One of the good things about PCPs is that they put the centre of balance really close to the body, this pushes it away again.

Hi Andy, As always, a great review by you and Mrs AAR. I dont think you can argue with that at all. I think its nice to see someone launch something a little different, meaning the air cylinder in the barrel. The accuracy was fantastic. I would have liked to have seen a wooden stock. I think the cocking lever looked great and minus that, I think the rifle looks like a single barrel 12 bore shotgun. This isnt a gripe, I dont think the gun deserves it. I dont like a rounded fore end. I like them to be pointed. Just my own preference. In my humble opinion, overall, a great looking gun and with that accuracy, it deserves to do well. Thank you.

Nice traditional looking rifle and that bolt is great! The only reference I know of to the name Vought, is from my aviation passion and there was an American aircraft manufacturer in the 1950's and 1960's called 'Chance Vought'. They produced some interesting fighter aircraft in those early days of jet aircraft. No idea why Remington might use that name though! I have to say, I love the way you pick out some of the daft and offensive comments that some folk leave for you. The comment on water pistols and that rather lovely target pistol is a classic example!! What on earth was that person thinking!? Extraordinary. Anyway, I love dropping in on this channel from time to time to catch up on what is out there in the world of air gunning. I shoot mostly rimfire, centre fire and shotguns, but do love a quality air rifle! 😊 I still use my trusty RWS Excalibur in .22 and whilst I am certain it's very 'old tech' these days, it has a beautiful walnut stock and it still does exactly what it's designed to, very effectively...... squirrels hate it!! 😂

Vought was a name associated with several aerospace companies in the USA. Perhaps they just thought it sounded a cool name. The bolt seemed very clunky and a bit awkward to use. Apart from that a good accurate rifle. Cheers Andy. 🙂
@adventurebeforedementia.2248 Жыл бұрын
When the bolt is drawn fully back it wobbles around with at least 2mm of float….which makes it difficult to push forward as it doesn’t align properly unless you guide it with your thumb on the back of the bolt…..you can see this when Andy’s using it on his range….trust me it’s not nice ,maybe the wood stock version is better 🤷🏼♂️

Since there was already a "Corsair" named pcp, they just found the manufacturer's name of the airplane bearing that name, which is Chance Vought, often short named Vought. Consolidated (Vought), Ling Temco Vought are also names in the aerospace area of the past. Deck landing US Navy fighters, especially. Sturdy, strangely & aggressive looking were their characteristics. The jet versions however were also quite accident prone.. a bit "Chancy"......))) And in some jurisdictions the appearnce of this pcp might also be a bit chancy.

I've had my eye on one of these for a couple of months now, thanks for the review! It seems to be based visually on the Remington 700 series of sniper rifles used by the marines, the M40 series and the M24. As far as the name goes aside from the killer nurse (that dominates a google search) there is a famous female US brigadier general who joined the Air Force in the 1950's and the first woman to be deployed with a bomber crew; there's an award named after her and she received the Presidential Medal Of Freedom in 2022. She's big on supporting females in the military and served predominantly as a coordinator and accountant from what I can make of all her different roles in the US AF but I could be completely wrong. Not sure how this ties in with a sniper rifle 'replica' but it's as close as I could get. 'Air Force' hero maybe? Play on words?
