Today we take a look at Remington's first foray in the PCP air rifle market with the all new Remington Airacobra!
The Airacobra will be hitting stores at sub £400 so it'll definitely have some tough competition from makes like Artemis and Gamo.
So the Questions is does the Airacobra have what it takes to stand out from the crowd? Well let's find out!
A massive special thanks also goes to Will at Woodfield GCP for sending us his fantastic upgraded trigger for our review.
Will is an RFD and a creator of many air rifle upgrades and it's definitely worth checking him out at www.woodfield-gcp.co.uk
Alternatively if you like what you see you can also get in touch with us here at www.bigdansairguns.co.uk.

Hi Dan loving your reviews which are absolutely spot n in my opinion. Through watching your reviews I have bought the SMK M22 in .22 ,it’s a brilliant gun . It is very accurate and easy to use with a good Hawke scope on . I have also bought the Remington Airacobra in .77 which is once again spot on and easy to us. I have also taken your advice and bought a replacement trigger unit from Welsh Willy . Now I would really appreciate a link from you please demonstrating how to change the trigger over please .

Bought one and found the bolt roughness was due to the greas having metal fillings in it , stripped the gun down and cleaned it and relubricated the bolt and it is now silky smooth . I was impressed how well balanced the gun felt and mine is a .22 and is fairly accurate. But I think smk listend about the scope as mine is a ao front adjustable .

A friend of ours needed a scope for his Impact X .30 he bought from hubby and I and offered one of these in .22 for a Hawke Sidewinder that we had laying around (we shoot Night Force scopes on our Powder Burners and PCPs as hubby and I are both sponsored by them in PRS series). We told him he could have it but but he was like no i won't accept it for free so we took the gun. It's been a fun tinkering gun. We stripped it down, worked the valve, opened the transfer port changed hammer springs to get the power we wanted. We found it really shoots FX Hybrids really well. Like much better then we expected. We dialed it in for a 10 shot string at 2800 down to 2350psi over those ten pushing 46ftlbs with the Hybrids with a SD of 3fps and a ES over those 10 of 13fps. Its not a gun we are going use for anything other then killing Racoons that house up in our two large warehouses as well as possums. So it just stays out in the warehouse and when we see a possum or coon on the security cams we go take him. Some of the shots are rather long when we are at one warehouse and see a pest at the other the shots wind up being between 70 and 130y. This gun at 46ftlbs wuth the Hybrids is deff capable of Racoons heads at 120y. 50y 10 shot groups with the Hybrids are around 1 inch and 10 shot 100y groups are 1.5 to 1.75 minute. It won't shoot with our high end guns but that's to be expected. For what it is it's very good. The only pellet that it really performed with was JSB 15.89s at 28ftlbs. We really couldn't get it to shoot anything else worth a darn. The hybrids and 15.89s was the only thing that shot. At its current tune it did shoot .218 H&N 21 grain slugs decently at well but only out to about 70y and opened quickly after but at 50y they shot amazingly well and super flat. It's a fun little project gun that's for sure and the barrel in ours deff allows you to shoot Hybrids well but that is only once you really get them moving and you will have a very short shot string. We could run a shot string that's prolly 20 to 25 shots with a ES of 25 to 30fps with power levels around 38 to 40ftlbs. I will say this until we got to 40ftlbs and higher the Hybrids wouldn't preform. Once we hit 40ftlbs the accuracy just got better and better with every 10fps we added up until we maxed out at 46ftlbs. That required heavy valve work and is about all that your gonna be able to get without going to a really short shot string with a super heavy hammer spring and heavier hammer along with over filled fill pressure. If we went that route starting with say a fill of around 3300psi down to say 2900psi over ten shots with say NSA 27.5s 55 to 58ftlbs would be possible. They route we went 46ftlbs after some modding and you have a fantastic slug slinger that you can throw in the truck and not worry about scratches and such on your high end guns. Also the trigger with some polishing time and a couple parts can be made in to a pretty decent trigger. Ours has about .25 inch of first stage take up and a fairly defined stop with zero creep and a 1.2lb break weight and we drilled and tapped a over travel set screw in the back of the trigger guard. Not a match grade trigger by any means but a very good trigger by anyone's standard. Hubby and I are spoiled by owning world class guns that have world class triggers. So triggers are held to a very high degree by us and after some work this trigger is very usable... Out the box... YUCK.

Great revue Dan . I really enjoyed the show - as always ! ,it is a very attractive rifle and would look so much better with the Sabre colouring , shame it's a bit of a porker though ! , it's even heavier than my HW 90 which is about as heavy as I can reasonably manage , I shall certainly shoulder one as soon as I see one in the flesh , as for the scope well I think that par for the course when they're effectively just bunging in a freebie , It took over an hour to watch this due to constant interruptions but it was worth the wait . Cheers Dan keep up the good work .

Hi Richard! Thanks for the comments mate it means a lot. Yeah she's pretty weighty make no mistake about that but it does its best to hide it, as you can hopefully see in the vid it's brilliantly balanced which does make the rifle much easier to handle. Hahaha I feel your pain regarding interruptions, when I was filming I had to stop for helicopters, a tractor and two Apache gunships that flew over ridiculously low (amazing sound though!) @bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete, I find that depending how a rifle is balanced can greatly change the perception of its weight. The Airacobra is pretty centred regarding balance so it doesn't feel as heavy as you may expect. I'm very much like you Pete I actually prefer a heftier rifle.. these new fancy PCP's that are feather light feel like toys! I always like how Boris the blade puts it in Snatch:"Heavy is good.. heavy is reliable, if it does not work you can always hit them with it".

Cracking honest review, and it’s nice to see that on a budget gun it has if I’m correct a metal trigger guard, unlike something like a daystate huntsman regal which costs about double which they use a cheep plastic guard!
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jonathan. You're 100% correct, the trigger guard is all metal and in general the rifle feels ridiculously solid. Regarding plastics you see it on all rifles these days, even the AGT Vulcan which SRP's at around £1350 uses a plastic trigger, plastic trigger guard and not particularly pleasant plastic magazines. The funniest way of looking into it is comparing the Vulcan to even an SMK B2 which has very little plastic (even the foresight is metal). Except the B2 is only £48!

Good evening Dan, if you had to choose one sub 12ftlbs rifle calibre in. 177 and. 22 what would be your favourite calibre? All the best.
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Top Shot, that's the questions that's the hardest one for any airgunner to answer, both calibres have their pros and cons and it entirely depends on what you plan to do with the rifle. I personally prefer .177 in all of my rifles simply because it's what I've always used.. that being said though each calibre has its own advantages. .177's tend to have a flatter trajectory due to the fact that the pellet will be travelling almost 200fps faster than the .22 (800ftps vs 600fps depending on pellet) so longer ranged shooting will be easier with the .177 due to less drop. .22's on the other hand are a larger and heavier pellet that most people would recommend for hunting due to the fact that on average they'll impart more energy into your quarry whereas a .177 may overpenetrate. The other advantage with .22 regarding PCP's is that they'll use less air on average and so in .22 form the Airacobra could possibly be capable of 120-130 shots per fill. The downside to the .22 is more drop especially beyond 30 yards in my experience but a lighter pellet can mitigate this somewhat. As mentioned I'm a .177 man personally and I've used my .177's for hunting with little issues so far but everybody has their own preferences when it comes to calibre. Thanks mate and sorry if I've made it even more confusing for you haha.
@topshot2787
@topshot2787 5 жыл бұрын
@@bigdansairguns83 Thats the answer i wanted to hear really. I always like to ask "people in the know" that question. i do prefer 177. Many do say, that. 22 is only the better choice if you are going to go down the FAC route. People always say.22 for hunting even in sub 12ftlb but shot placement is paramount as you have to be able to hit the bloody thing and with 177 it is much more forgiving and when its travelling nearly 200 fps faster than its bigger brother, its more than up to the job of hunting as well as target work. . All the best from lancashire.

Hi Alun, We've actually got something like that planned with our next few videos comparing a Chinese rifle against a very highly regarding German rifle. In my experience as someone who sells both German and Chinese air rifles the Chinese are actually if anything more reliable than the Germans despite the common consensus. The advantage that the more expensive rifles have is that the barrels tend to be slightly less pellet fussy. That being said once you find the right pellet for the Chinese rifles they're every bit as accurate as the German rifles from my experience. Plus in the long run it's far easier to get tuning parts for the Chinese rifles compared to European. Thanks Alun and I hope this helps.

Yes nice, but: again no thumb shelf for thumb - up shooters, short barrel tenon, middle finger knuckle busting trigger guard ? Filler cap bound to go lost.... LOP looks shortish - try it without that heavy winter coat.. BUT: Sling swivel studs included ! Big THX !
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Hendrick, If you like places to rest your thumbs then the Kral Pro rifles will suit you perfectly mate. Regarding your concerns with the trigger guard I've got larger hands than some and I didn't have any issues at all. Losing the filler cap would more be down to operator error than a fault with the rifle and whilst you're right it could be possible to lose the cap.. you won't lose the fill probe at least as it's built into the rifle! I'd love to be able to try it without the coat but it was cold enough to freeze the balls off of a brass monkey out there haha. The sling swivels are very much appreciated mate as the gun does come out a little heavy. If I was keeping one as a hunting rifle I think a sling would be my first addition alongside the WW trigger. Thanks Hendrick!

Hi Dan. Well after watching your review, I bought the .22 version, I have fitted the Welsh Willie Trigger and fitted her with a Nikko Stirling Panamax Scope, AND I have had the stock all redone in a lovely Walnut as you recommended, she looks the Bees Knees and Beautiful, I have not had chance to zero her yet, but when the weather is dried up, I will be out on the Targets. I dont know how to add pics of my finished Rifle, but if you would like some pics and a Video I am happuy to send them to you, and you have my full permission to use them in any way you choose. Airguns are very similar to other businesses and such on the market. Usually there will be one equipment manufacturer that will allow other companies to put there branding on them. You can see this with vans, cars, and even washing machines. The Chinese aren't the only ones to do this neither, take a look at the new Webley's and Kral rifles for instance. Weihrauch is also badged as Beeman in the USA.

I cannot understand how a poor scope can be that poor on a pcp? There are vids on You Tube of people putting cheap scopes on center fires and getting better results than that. Maybe its broken. Even the cheap Chinese scopes I have wont spray pellets around like that on an accurate gun.
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate. The scope is useable.. but it's far from good. The problem is that it's a fixed objective scope with a thick reticle. At 25 yards with 4x zoom it's crystal clear, take it to 8x (my usual zoom setting) and it's like someone has smothered it in vaseline. As mentioned in the video it'll get you shooting but there's plenty better on the market.

Not bad for a Chinese rifle, in my opinion the "safety " is far from safe, if the rifle is loaded and you go to flick the safety on and miss , you will hit the trigger and off it goes, not very safe at all, 😁👍
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 Жыл бұрын
Hi Phillip! This is a rare instance I'll disagree with you here. The safety toggle is higher up than the trigger blade and you'd have to intentionally pull low to hit the trigger. The safety is also spring loaded so even if you accidentally graze it somewhat it'll still snap into safe. Plus without the WW trigger upgrade it'd take forever to accidentally discharge anyways as the pull is longer than the Empire state building.😂
