Hi AA! I live in the US and I am just curious. I love springer and air ram rifles because most are affordable and I love to tinker on them and get the most I can out of them. And be good to see how the barrel is like after 250 pellets they must wear the barrel out
@jameshagerman7681 Жыл бұрын
@stephen gunrunner hanson I wouldn't think so. H&Ns green line pellets are made of tin which is a fair shake softer than steel which generally runs 6.5-7 on the Mohs Hardness Scale which is more than double the common rating for Marble which tin dioxide is occasionally used as a polishing agent for. All in all the lead free pellets should cause no undue wear on the barrel.

My very first air rifle was a well used BSA Meteor, with a sloppy barrel and leaking breach seal but at least it had a wood stock. Accuracy was hit and miss, mostly miss as the barrel slopped from side to side when fired. But it was fun, even with little power my father used it to clear out the pesky starlings that you were allowed to shoot in the late 60's. I would paya bit more and go for a Meteor Evo with a beech stock, i can't stand the feel of plastic stocks. But if funds are tight, this one will get you started into a great hobby.
@MrAshtute2 жыл бұрын
I think I that was a pretty good test....it was hitting the target hard too ...grouped nicely but clearly needed a slight sight adjustment. The way that was hitting the target was certainly good enough to despatch small pests..... can't argue with the price that's for sure.

Nice budget starter or even cheap pest controller. When the lead ban rumours first surfaced I tested the Baracuda Greens at .177 in my BSA R10 SE. Reassuringly I found them to be very accurate (although expensive of course) I was getting centre to centre 5 pence groups out to 35 and 40 yds. (During testing I used all 300 pellets through the gun) The pellets I used were unelected or weighed straight out of the tin. My BSA R10 SE is little underpowered and I was considering sending it to John Bowkett to have it tuned up. However in my mind I wondered if it was the slight lack of power which was aiding accuracy in my hammer forged barrel. It eased my mind a bit on the lead ban, aside I'd the cost implications. My only other concern is if long term damage to the barrel may occur using alloys. Anyway I am back to the lead now (QYS) as we await news from the enquiry. Although judging by the state of the government goodness knows when that might be .... 🙄

There are some great budget air guns now in 177. I don't use 22 now. For info; Beeman 10616, USA version, 0.31" groups @ 33 yards. 998 fps with RWS 8.3 gr Superdome Field Line pellets, 18.3 fpe, silencer, 28 lb cocking, 49" length, no barrel droop, has open sights, shoots very quiet. Nine pounds with scope. I shoot it like a deer rifle. Test group shouldered with front rest, light grip, 9x scoped. Jsb shoots no better but costs 5x more. The gun out shoots me even as a marksman. Much fun, smooth quiet spring, love this gun. Added a Tasco 3-9x 40mm AO scope and sling, a whopping $190 total package. Comes with a scope good for 20 yds or less, $129-$160. RWS superdomes are 2.6 cents each. They work well at low and high velocities. The gun is rated at 1,200 fps and shoots 1,085 fps with 7.0 gr lead pellets. Gotta love German engineering.

Credit where it’s due Andy, most people would of done a 25 yd test to make the results look good. Not you, straight out to 35m no messing about a good test for both the shooter and the rifle. I would say though that most people in the market for this type of rifle at this price point are most likely to be beginners and should spend a long time practicing before taking aim at anything with a pulse out at 35m.
