Hey andy can you review the crosman sr357 revolver?
@mottee2 жыл бұрын
This review, especially the accuracy test, was one of the incentives for me to get a PR-776. It arrived a few days back and today I finally got an opportunity to shoot it at my indoors 5 m "range". These are my thoughts after consuming the first CO2 capsule. Please bear in mind that I am spoiled by high quality, serious target air pistols and real powder-burning Smith & Wesson revolvers. My only experience before for CO2 pellet revolvers has been three (!) second-hand Crosman Colt Python replicas which were quite nice to shoot, but they all (!) broke up in short order. Things I liked about the PR-776: - The whole loading system with the swing-out cylinder and full moon metal clips. I had absolutely no trouble pushing the pellets in the clips. I shot the trusted RWS 7,0 grs "Blue" pistol pellets, the ordinary 4,50 mm diameter. I have a stash of the 4,49 variant too, did not bother to try them but obviously they would have been even easier to load. - Accuracy. This revolver is precise enough for its intended purpose, which is to (vaguely) simulate shooting IHMSA silhouette standing position. My very second offhand 8 shot group @ 5m was 19 mm and right where I wanted it to be, the sights are dead on to my liking without any adjustment. OK, the gun shoots some 25 mm high from point of aim at five metres, but I prefer a sub-six hold anyway. - Economical CO2 consumption. I got 80 good shots from a single capsule. - Lots of fun for the money. Things I did not like: - Heavy trigger pull, even with single action. Makes releasing a clean shot quite difficult. OTOH the trigger does not feel gritty and if the shot process is interrupted (which I had to do often) the trigger resets fully, unlike with some other cheap airguns I've tried. This is an important safety factor. - Unstable, flimsy feeling grip. It is indeed quite annoying. - General quality of build. Every moving part feels sloppy. I know, this is a cheap, cast pot metal affair, one should not expect tight fittings. And as far as I understand the construction is such that sloppiness has not much effect on function or accuracy - for example, the spring-loaded barrel centers itself in the recesses of the cylinder without any precise timing. But still... yes, I am spoiled. Overall, I'm happy I bought this air gun. It fills the desired need, not perfectly, but adequately enough.

Very similar to a Crossman 357 revolver I have owned for a while and great fun for speed plinking. Firing a revolver like this from the hip as seen in cowboy films requires tons of practice and a huge safe backdrop. Great fun

Thanks for another great review of a very nice little piece of kit. For once, I bought this before you reviewed it and so, I can honestly say that your review is absolutely spot on and contains no BS whatsoever. This is my 'goto' handgun for a bit of accurate 'fun'. P.S. I am not an employee of Gamo, AAR, VA or Diapers (oops that damned predictive text again). Well done.

I've had this one for a while now and I quite like it. I also have a couple of Dan Wessons. While the Dan Wessons are better finished and more realistic, the gamo is more practical for shooting (reducing reload times) and it is lots of fun. I find myself using it more than the wessons.

Nice review Andy. I use the shorter barrelled version (PR-725) in airgun practical shooting matches, principally because of the reload capability and 8 shot capacity. The rifled barrel helps too.

Another belter from Gamo. Looks good, nice weight and enough power for serious plinking and target work up to 10m. 8 shot magazines and a generous shot count are all the signs of a winner. Loading the shells is nice at first but I prefer to spend my time shooting.

I still have my Umarex 686 (s&w .357 mag) from 2001. 10 shot drop in wheel. Not been used that often but after discovering this channel its reignited my passion and I'll be blowing the dust off it ! The only design flaw I found with this revolver is the co2 cartridge adjuster brass thumb screw seizes up. A few drops of 2in1 oil free's it for a short while but then its back to thumb blisters !

Well done Andy! First of all, I'm a revolver guy, therefore my opinion might me biased. However, I do like this Gamo model very much! It's a great piece for plinking, but sadly underrated. Quite frankly, the only thing I dislike of this revolver is the flimsy grip. But, alas, it's the same crappy design on many other airgun revolvers in the market.😩 In short, it has been an excellent choice for my collection. BTW Andy, love your 'window' background.👍😆

I’ve never had a problem using speed loaders myself and the shells do add to the realism. I do however have an Umarex Smith and Wesson 586 which has a 10 shot magazine system and is probably the best CO2 available for build quality. It is a lot more expensive though.

Thank you very much for you review, after having a PR-45 for like 14 years I was looking to get a more modern replacement for it, and after seeing what newer models gamo had avairable I found this review, and its spot on, Mine just arrived today, I got 80 good shots from the Co2 bottle, its super accurate at 10m, it´s a little stonger than the PR-45 and Its almost as quiet, its just PERFECT for 10m paper target shooting. Also tried a reseting metal target at 5m and it also did just fine. I´m impressed how real the weight and feel is. And the 8 round magazine system is just so good, quick and easy to use. Just hope its as durable as the old PR-45. Considering the price, it was a amazing purchase. Again thank you from Brazil for helping my decision with your review.
@brorjordas19793 жыл бұрын
Never been a big revolver fan myself. Especially of these modern revolvers. My only revolver being the pellet/BB Remington 1875 (by Crosman) since being a western styled item.. But. If I ever bought a modern styled revolver - this one would definitely be my choice. Seriously were looking at one online some ago.. I like the looks, size, coloring, adjustable sights, 6" rifled barrel... and I especially like the pellet rotary clip magazine system it has. No cartridge loading anymore. Got quickly bored of loading my Remington 1875 cartridges all the time - even it came even with 6+6 cartridges in the package. Enough of cartridge loading for me.. And I think this Gamo comes with even two rotary magazine instead of just one. Sweet!! The grip might surely be a bit loosely fitted. Quite usual issue I think. But I also think a thin layer of nailpolish or something between the inner surfaces might sturdy it up a bit with friction.

Had one for a while now and its very good and pretty cheap,and so far pretty rugged also also accepts the weaver/picatinny rails from the Umerex series of revolvers like the s40/60 that slide on down the dovetail on the top, which I really like as you can leave the rail on and fire with open sights or put the red dot on and use that. Also uses the same magazine as the Winchester 4.5 which is also pretty accurate. both by the way like the RWS Geco Pellets which are cheap as chips, and they are a little more accurate if you seat them into the magazine I usually use a golf tee as a dibber

I do like a revolver and own an Umarex 586 6". They are out of production now, and this Gamo PR-776 looks to fill that void quite nicely. I am waiting for the new Umarex M29 and 629 to hit the shelves though, as I do fancy adding a shell ejecting revolver to the quiver. It's just a shame the latter aren't rifled, that sets the PR-776 apart.

This Gamo PR-776 is a rifled pellet revolver very similar to the Umarex S&W TRR8 bb revolver. Both are look-alikes of the powder burning S&W R8/TRR8 tactical revolver. The smootbore bb TRR8 is quite accurate due to excellent sights. It also uses the cartridge system with fully rotating cylinder and comes with a speedloader. If steel bb ricochet and rebounding is a concern, rear loading pellet cartridges can sucessfully be used. Because it is a smoothbore, the 10m pellet accuracy is not quite as good as the Gamo PR-776 and the S&W only holds 6 shots. But if you like loading brass cartridges in a realistic modern revolver, the TRR8 is a smoothbore bb alternative that is quite comparable to the Gamo PR-776.

Hi-ho there!✨🤗✨ I have SEVERAL revolvers, each with their OWN SPEED-LOADER. Andy, as long as I make sure to use the PROPER speed-loader for the pistol, there are no, and never have been, issues using the things. There are FOUR 'loaders' that, on paper, should be interchangeable, but my experience is STAY WITH WHAT THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDES. Seriously, I have ALWAYS been able to SEAT all the shells into their chambers, then press/click the release mechanism - PLOP!; all shells got home!!! hee hee Keep up the GREAT work, sir, and should I EVER get rich enough to afford doing so, I will purchase one of your WARM flannels jackets.
