Lovely start to my Friday and weekend. Good morning all. Good to see an old friend being reviewed. I have the MK1 CO2 but with a best fittings PCP conversion and it is still great fun and awesome for accurate plinking.

Was an awesome surprise to see this Sig Sauer's Rattler Canebrake PCP version getting a review on AAR!! I for sure did not expect that.❤ I've been a big Sig fan since the og co2 MCX came out in 2016. I've got now the .177 co2 MCX, MPX, the Canebrake - and the .22 Virtus PCP, as Sig rifles go. Love them all, even though the Canebrake and Virtus easily are my favorites due their better build for power. My co2 Canebrake I HPAd with separately bought 10ci tank (to keep buttstock length short) setup parts and adapter and is at 11.5fpe - so yet under that 12fpe limit. And thus I was kinda interested to see what numbers Andy got here - now when the UK Sig PCP even got the tank and regulator from Sig that it was supposed to get (unlike it was with the UK Virtus release and it's black, unbranded airtank setup)... The best update on this one I guess must be the grip - because the small and odd feeling original one been changed now out to one similar to the grip that the Virtus has. None of these can be fullauto btw - they're basically a long DA (trigger moves the chain and the sear) revolver with a chain instead of a cylinder. For outta the box and out to the 30 metres that was way good! The Sig barrels never been high in quality, so working them in surely makes them better over time. And that mock suppressor end has a small play where the inner barrel rests it tip. The chains/belts not gotten changed though. The small flanges in the chain bores surely damages pellets already when you load the chains up. Damn shame Sig has not yet produced any chains with o-rings in them to hold pellets in place - cuz I've heard some hobbyists even bothered to make such mods on their own.. But, overall: I think the Canebrake is the best option if want a .177 replica rifle by Sig Sauer. Just gotta choose if wanna use both co2 and HPA - or just go this PCP route. The tank's buttpiece though: looks similar to the one on the Virtus. So, do not tighten too much; they've had a tendency to crack/split up.. I personally woulda just want a co2 version - but with all these PCP parts along in a box. Too bad Sig don't give suchan option. You can strip the old co2 version out from many co2 parts at the rear and just add one ASA connector to the rear of it, for it to accept the airtank stock (as seen here as the PCP version) - which is way cool (if you are as deep into these Sig replica rifles as I am that is😆).. But, enough of this yappin' for now...🤣🤣 A massive Thank You to Andy and crew once again!

Hello. Nice review thank you 👍🏻 I own the MCX Virtus PCP chambered in 5.5 and it's quite the same: it's obvious that they're both made for plinking and not for precision. I made a review on my channel and since I've done some modifications: I changed the 800psi regulator with a 1200psi output and now I have between 19 and 20 joules. An advise: when you file the pellets in the chain dont forget to use the tool to push them, it will increase the accuracy. I really apreciate your video 😉

Good morning all from a frosty St. Helen’s. Thanks to Andy and the AAR team for another great review. I understand guns like this are made to be replicas of an existing rifle, but I see no reason why what is essentially a pcp rifle can’t be closer to full power and more accurate. Modern manufacturing techniques, cnc machines etc almost make this easy. I know Andy described it as a fun gun and a plinker but it just dosent need to be.
@BenBallard133 ай бұрын
Maybe Sig thought at that overall weight, no-one would be lugging it about in a field for pest control, so, didn't make it 11ft/lbs+ ?
@KarlWheeler-d3q3 ай бұрын
No, if it's like the others it's built to a price and is all cast metal, that really doesn't hold a tight tolerance. That said, at least they included the trigger return spring this time 😮

The rifle is really intended for real steal MCX owners to train anywhere without spending a small fortune on ammo, which means drills and practical shooting at close range where air rifle type hyper accuracy does not really matter.
@EmDeeCee61473 ай бұрын
Is the barrel rifled Andy?
@antonandreevich58383 ай бұрын
yes it is, its exacly 12 inches in length and 11mm in outer diameter. its not the best barrel out there and what doesn't help even more is that it's quite loosely fitted, to have a better accuracy you have to strip it down and JB-weld it al the outer and inner fittings (it screws into a bracket rifle side, and pushes into an oversized bore at the end of the mock supressor the other side). I ended up replacing that barrel with a slightly longer 4.4mm ID smoothbore so I can shoot umarex steel BBs (they're 4.35mm exactly) because steel BBs at 800+ fps offer very good penetration and is quite fun for plinking purposes. I own a PCP converted CO2 version of a Canebrake that I have fitted a regulator and a 200cc bottle myself. regulator is set at 1400 psi which is higher than 1100 psi used in a factory fitted Virtus/Canebrake PCP rifles. Using a higher than recommended pressures may lead to pipework on the feed system bending out, so I JB-welded all the loose connections and pipes so they dont overexpand. Its an overly complicated rifle with a lot of sophisticated design features and it has a reputation for being unreliable. But I have a thing for turning CO2 rifles into regulated pcps, own over 10 of different rifles and handguns that I remade into PCP/HPA with a vastly improved ballistics than their original co2 counterparts yet still fully within UK legal limits.
@antonandreevich58383 ай бұрын
if you sort out the barrel wobble of stock 12 inch barrel you will get a much better grouping especially on a pcp setup. the only thing you can't sort out on this rifle is a shot to shot consistency - you got one shot doing 710 fps and the other 620, 660 etc. the deviation is quite significant and I haven't found a solution for it. its the biggest factor of a poor accuracy of this rifle.

I wouldn’t touch any Sig pellet rifle. The mcx/mpx are notorious for jams and problems. Had 3 in the space of a year, they all failed within the first 500-1000 shots. Also I’m fairly sure they only used to guarantee it up to 15,000 shots. They look great, and are fun while they work, but bring you nothing but frustration when they don’t. Avoid.

@@charlesflint9048jammed? The mag? Poke the pellet back into the belt with a long stick while pressing down the mag release button and pulling the mag down. Oughta work. My old MCX jammed wadcutter pellets way often at the breech just in front of the mag when it all was new.

@martinwebster58813 ай бұрын
For approx £400 you can get a gamo phox or gx40 both bsa based rifles and both would run rings round this. It’s a great looking rifle but there is no need to be “just a plinker” the power is basically a heavier hammer spring or at worst a small reworking of the knock open valve and I’ve seen better accuracy out of a basic entry level £150 springer. It could look great and perform for no more money.

A .22 calibre and longer barrel might be a good paper target gun, no? I really dont understand why manufacturers don't do more realistic PCP TARGET capable military replicas: even and specially replicas of old school weapons like Lee Enfield, , mausers, mosins, garands, M14, G3. Would make more sense to buy them than deactivated guns i would say.
