As someone who actually walked with extra oxygen from late 15 begin 16 until my 22nd after I received a double lung transplant, this move is indeed bloody stupid. There were some things they got right though, but they were the most superficial things. Like remembering your parents crying beside your bed because you're going to die, or that guess what the person with extra oxygen has an arch nemesis; stairs. As someone who has been sick my whole life and was basically close to death and dying a lot of the times, depression is not a side effect of dying, weirdly enough for a lot of people and most people I know, it's quite the opposite. It's a cause to live. Absolutely live. It's almost freeing. Of course I'm not saying that you are glad you're dying, it's just that you don't care about what people think of you, you don't care about other stuff some people care about. I'm also not saying that there are no people that have depression caused by dying, I'm just saying that from what I've observed and have lived myself, for most people it's at least part of the reason that caused their happiness and calmness. After my transplant I suddenly get to live, something I haven't heard in over 7 years. It's almost frightening. Beautifully frightening. Loved the jokes mate. More people should feel free to joke about cancer, dying and every gloomy topic, even when you have not dealt with it yourself. It makes me feel better when people joke about stuff like this instead of only talk about how hard it must be. Sorry for the long winded comment I didn't really mean to, words just kind of kept going. I hope I didn't make it too gloomy, if I did I'll leave you with this beautiful wisdom, my nurses (that knew me very well and I them, they weren't just all a bunch of psycho's calling sick kids names, they knew I loved jokes like these) always called me 'Smurf'. Not due to my length but because a lot of the times my lips were blue due to lack of oxygen. So go on people, give me your best transplant joke or dying joke, I dare you. How man times my parents have had threatened to disconnect my oxygen tube when they thought I was getting too witty, you don't want to know. I have great parents.

Wouldn’t that make him better? I don"t wanna be THAT bitch, because I agree this movie is pretentiously written and has a lot of dumb moments. However, the reason Hazel pushed herself so hard at the Anne Frank house was because Van Houten had just gotten done telling her horrible shit about her as a human and how she's nothing but a failed mutation. She wanted to prove to herself, and Augustus, that she could handle it.

i never watched the movie, but i read the book when I was 12 in 2012 and it ENDED me. I sobbed for the last like 30 pages straight. Even so, I couldn't really convince myself to watch the movie because I saw clips of it, and they just made you realize how some of the stuff they did in the book just looked ridiculous when acted out by real people. especially the cigarette thing. and the names, omg the names. Way worse hearing them out loud, especially how Augustus always says hazel-grace. big barf energy. the book probably would feel cringe too if I read it now, but that said I am kind of nostalgic for a time when media could induce such a dramatic emotional response in me. I remember crying at the end of *Allegiant* when i was 13, as if it wasn't a terrible horrible stupid ending. And I KNEW it was a terrible horrible stupid ending when I read it, just like the last 2 books were terrible and horrible and stupid. I was a preteen when this came out and I had read the book so my mother and I went to see it on a whim (like we were in a restaurant and booked tix for like an hour later) and I...did not cry. Which, fine, whatever. But the teenage girls in front of us were sobbing so I thought there was something wrong with me. I then proceeded to fake-cry so well that my mother still doesn't believe me when I tell her I was pretending.

as much as i don't want to sound like "I'm NoT lIke OtHeR gIrLs" but I truly couldn't understand why this book and movie got so popular. And I was someone who defended the Divergent books. The scene where they kiss in the Anne Frank house gives me so much second hand embarrassment. There were allegations about Ansel Elgort back in 2020 when a girl came out and said she groomed him when she was 17. I don't know what happened after she said something. All I know is he was the worst part of west side story 2021. (Also me and Jo have the same zodiac sign ♍)
