thank you sir for sharing your gift to the world. I agree with you that art education is obscenely expensive and I am most of us cant afford it. But we love art , it is in my blood. With the first five free art tuts I have seen . I have learned so much already . And I was able to buy my first ever wacom intuos pro small. Its not much but it will do for now. thank you again for sharing.

This video was delightfully informative, but my real enjoyment came from watching Aaron mugging as he drew the expressions. XD I'm glad to see I'm not the only one out there, making faces at my drawing as I work.

Aaron, you are just the best! Best animator, best teacher, and best PERSON! Thank you!. ASAP I will be subscribing for EVERYTHING you have. I have been looking for a long time for a site where a professional animator taught traditional (tradigital) animation, but everything out there was either done by amatuers or was about CGI animation. This site is pure gold.

This could not have come at a better time! I'm trying so hard to fix the whole "blank face" or simple smile expression then I had realized that I was trying to do both the anatomy and build the expression at the same time! Thank you so much, Mr. Blaise!

Absolutely brilliant. I can't thank you enough, I've learned so many thing's and 'trying' to include them in my Photoshop & Pyrography. You're a TOP TOP BLOKE, the best 👍😉👌 Take care my friend. Oh I nearly forgot... Am I alone when I say that... I find myself pulling faces when I'm trying to get a certain expression! No mirror's or anything lol. You make learning so much fun, I'm 56 but still like a child when it comes to drawing, painting, burning (pyrography).

Thank you very much for posting these videos, it's really nice to have insight from an animator who has as much experience and talent as yourself. I especially want to say thank you for the persistence video you made, animation work seems to drag on sometimes and it feels like I'm not getting anywhere, it really helped to strengthen me to continue strong, opening yourself up was a very generous gift. It was also nice to see another person that can see how the lights and darks of life end up becoming something beautiful, and to hear from another artist that our job is to make other people happy, as apposed to saying it's all about self-expression. Thank you!

5:20 keep expressions simple even in complex char designs 7:20 first thing you do, push the contrast and then slowly as you render you will dial it back Similar to painting throw strong values or chroma to give yourself relativity so you remember how much you can push this still ad don’t get afraid noodling in a small pool of values or colors 8:05 now start to use your fundamentals of anatomy to make sense of the expression 10:30 same thing even with other expressions

Really enjoying your videos. Like others have said, I am just a hobbyist - not looking to be a pro, so I can’t justify the high cost of formal classes. I have one question: You seem to always fill your canvas with a neutral grey when you start, why not set your new canvas to fill with a grey background? If you always (or mostly) use grey it would make sense to start with grey and then use a different fill if you wanted to do something else.
