I've been a fan of Doyah for over a year now, see him evolve has been so dope. One thing I really love about him besides his style is that he seems super comfortable and present in the moment so it seems like every round he makes it his own show. It's very inspiring to see and makes me try to get myself out of my shell when I dance. Also he seems to have a lot of fun.

I find it really helpful what you said about accents & the groove & flow. It always seems like one type of dancer prioritizes only or the other and I rarely every see dancers who mix it up well and train themselves to be able to do that naturally.

Yeah man. It’s why when a lot of people freestyle to songs they don’t know it ends up being much better. They don’t rely on the sound they know is coming

@@TypicalGMD Barely people out there who doing all together what he mentioned above.. But 4 real it’s a bit exhausting what the DJ‘s nowadays play at battles.. So much repetition, the songs/beats are got killed to death already by the whole scene haha It is always about creating hype in a final by playing some already well known songs… No real challenge for dancers they hearing the same beats over and over and that’s trash for me.. Like the scene or the DJ‘s are acting as if there are no more new music/beats that are getting released week by week.. Yeah just a lil explanation on how I feel about the battle scene since the last 2-3 years.
@Kel_TheArtist Жыл бұрын
@@TheChilla187 yes that’s also true, however something I learned in the palace is that knowing the song and still being able to have free movement instead of being bound to those sounds is key for being a great freestyler. A way to train that would be to practice to that song that gets played at every battle, restart it, and give a whole different approach. Repeat this process until you never do the same thing twice with that song.
@TheChilla187 Жыл бұрын
@@Kel_TheArtist you could do that yeah, but I mean at some point we need a bit of change with the songs.. there is no way we keep doing it like this. Otherwise battling is gonna be just knowing and practicing any kinda track you listened over and over.. And approaching to new sounds is something completely different.. discovering sounds in the moment and not dancing on memory!

Been catching noticing a lot of Doyah's progression since Future Pace last year and I'm still surprised by that tiebreak. Overall felt like Majid had better concepts with fewer resets, especially in round 3.
@brpbrrrpvrrp Жыл бұрын
rests aren’t even a bad thing. old schoolers hate it coz all they do is flow. but resets are fkn sick. as long as ur still progressing ur round evidenced by how doyah ends his rounds on a high like in the final round and first round
@GoldenButterfly76 ай бұрын
@@brpbrrrpvrrp mannn ive been thinking that alot. Resets are awesome when you use it right. I think you can overdo it. But its the same concept as the oldheads wanting you to stay in the paint, but the three is golden, and if not more effective at times.

I've never understood his style in the 12 years I've watched him. I respect him as a dancer but I don't enjoy him. The only battle I've enjoyed is him against Larry in hip hop international and he was dancing locking style for most of it.

@@preciousnunique @abody-crash yea i think he's super high level still, and 100% respect...but just think his weakness is concepts. Never tells a story.

Rather than lack of concept, imagine someone trying to communicate concepts without relying on their hands For me it took time to appreciate majid, since i was oriented more to threading, lines, waves, etc When i started specifically training on dance by excluding those things, the more i appreciated majids movement and concepts He tends to focus on more abstract concepts like being blown away by the wind, or walking on a bouncing tight rope, or being unstable during an earthquake, or like "what happens if your whole body started vibrating for some reason", but since he communicates it without relying on his hands he lacks _illustrative_ qualities

It’s very simple for me, Doyah won all 3 first rounds and they were trying to get him to lose, they even gave Majid the same beat he battled rubix and kuty on in team battle in round 4. Watch the doyah vs Laura same thing happens there he wins the first 2 rounds convincingly and they end up giving it a extra round.

Different philosophies came into play with majid winning and tying the 2nd and 3rd round From my perspective, and majid points it out at the end of the 3rd round, there was a specific lack of mobility in comparison and this might not mean much to everyone but some judges ans dancers feel more strongly about mobility than others I think its also fatigue with the music type that factored in against doyah round 2, because I've heard the song and seen people dance so much to it, that majids approach genuinely looked fresher in comparison (especially my first watch). Doyah sort of seemed not in the music, more on the lyrics and accents, but not anything unique that I haven't heard or seen before Its only Lindsay, Alex, kaydee, and lumi that killed that song in a unique way for me though, everything else feels flat in comparison, i wouldn't rewatch them to study Overall i sort of agreed with how the rounds played out
