So much of what you said is so on point. One of the things that I think we have to take in account is that Larry and Lau aka Les Twins are themselves 24/7. They don't play roles, they don't have to get ready, they don't have to think about it. They just ARE and they are comfortable in their skin. Even when they do weird shit, they don't care about what you or I think; they do them. That kind of confidence is rarely seen. Add their life experiences and body of work and they are lightyears apart from everyone else. Even the BEST dancers these days (and there are some phenomenal dancers out there) we can still see LT influence. Les Twins have been so free with their time, space and knowledge, which is how I don't understand how they have haters. I don't get that part. But to the point of this battle. I loved round one because LT knows they can do JUST what they did and still dominate - they DO WHAT THEY WANT at all times and yes, they rode the same beat (which is rare) but they got that energy out and here the crazy part; LT round 1 will be more memorable than the Gamal's round 1. LT, get that part that says if you let the music and your emotions guide you, you will never come out wrong. That is my penny worth of thought.

Also, because I feel like they created and have their own style and were a bit ahead of their time, it's hard to keep adding new stuff to the arsenal when they were doing so much before before everyone else. Plus, they just have the charisma, the talent, their own style, their confidence and musicality that can't really be matched. They are just them. There may be better technical dancers, etc. But I've never seen anyone tell the story or the music or evoke more emotions with some of their individual performances to emotional songs. There is nobody like them (to me) and I never get tired of watching them.

You said it, Les Twins were funny in several moments during the entire event. They incorporated humor into their routines that were above creative & really funny while still doing awesome dancing, where the other teams seemed to be just on a serious vibe. Les Twins were ENTERTAINING. They brought a "school-yard rivalry" vibe to this battle that was relatable. We all had rivals or competitors in school & this is what Les Twins seemed to bring out in a humorous way. But the other teams only seemed to be trying to get the judges' votes by trying to be more clever than Les Twins but they didn't have that "entertaining" element that Les Twins had/have/project all the time. Where many dancers might be really good & make you say, "oh" or "aha", but Les Twins are FUN! They give you a good time and a good feeling all wrapped up together. Finally, a lot of "dancers" think they're better than Les Twins because they do break-dancing or a lot of flips, spins, acrobats, etc. But all those acrobatics seem like circus acts to me rather than dancing and personally I never liked the circus. Oops, I apologize if that was rude or mean. Can you tell I'm a Les Twins fan?

Now doc I understand what ur saying. But u gotta realize it is a battle and not a routine battle. Les twins first round was strictly beat killing and no routine with freestyle. Les Gamals rounds were literally routines with maybe 10 seconds of a freestyle intermission before they set up their next routine and they do that a lot. We Les twins started off with beat killing to waste time. And a mid round with a small routine. They they spazzed at the end. Every battle they used the time to their advantage making sure they finished last also. So they could answer back what their opponents provided .

Les Gamal’s are from the same city as Les Twins in France. They all originate from Guadalupe. They’ve been in the same dance circles for years. Les Gamal is very influenced by Les Twins. One was a tribute band and the other was the original artist.

We are watching Lew Twins videos and battles now since 2010 Les Gamals showed up in serious battles only recently starting with 2020 and had quite a lot of battles in the last 12 months, regardless of the fact they do dance for a a long time weren't for years hot as they are now, except if you can call doing televised talent shows as hot.

Les Twins' last round really did it for me in terms of storytelling. If you notice, their performances mirrored each other. I love how Laurent started his watch, did some kicks around 7:48, dissed the competition at 7:51 before jumping back into his groove. Then Larry "clocks in" at 8:14, does foot work, showed aggression at 8:28, and then jumped into a groove.

Well said. It's always been that way. There's always been favoritism in the dance scene/battle scene. The only difference is that those same biased judges and dancers from the past are now labeled as "OGs". However I would prefer to see Judges from a whole different dance scene judging these big dance competitions. They should invite Japanese or American judges etc...

I mean you chose to do that tho, its really not that hard to get past the fact that they are twins and that they have commandos. Dancewise alone, they dance nothing like Les Twins, they actually do dance hip hop with the foundations (bounce, groove, flow). Les Twins, especially Larry lacks those things heavily since hes more technical and into beatkilling, which is not what hip hop is about. Like legit check out their battle against ribix and kuty and you'll see how polished their styles is.

It's like if Michael Jackson does a move & then someone else does the same move just like him, or maybe even better than him, BUT it's not giving the same feeling as Mike. When Michael did a move you were mesmerized, but when someone else did the same move, you just thought, "oh, that was pretty good...where did Michael go"? I felt like gamals had very less connection with music. And their routins are seen in different battles, So their sick routins didnt hit. Secondly their energy wasnt there. If they battling with twins they have to reply in same energy or more energy. Most important thing was gamal's routine was seen before in different events. Nowadays I dont like Larry's freestyle too much like before, but les twins werw more precise and sharp than gamals for sure

I hear what you're saying about the Twins first round but I see it differently. Usually, riding the same sounds and beat isn't something you should do, but I feel like the way Laurent was using that particular sound was a good way to build up a really well executed moment at 2:40 and also connect with Larry. We all perceive battles and dance differently but the way Laurent entered the round and ended at 2:40 made a lot of sense to me. If you enter this competition while being very unpredictable, you'll hardly have those raw connections with your partner. Oma & Ema were connecting so many times on the triple kick but it works because they found a way to often make those raw connections. Hence why Slim and Jaja chemistry felt flat compared to other teams.

@@laylas5616 Laurent has just always been a lot more of an alpha overall. Larry takes charge usually, but you can tell Lau big bros Larry at the end of the day in their interaction. Beast really is an appropriate name since you always see Larry trying to calm Lau down. From their origin you can tell since Lau pushed Larry to dance initially and Lau was the one that was a natural performer with charisma and comfortable in his own skin. You see Larry being a lot more comfortable and charisma overtime and when he's by himself kinda gets exposes a little bit in terms of relying a lot on Lau for that Les Twins personality.

Phew, finally found some time to write my thoughts down on all this. First of all in terms of energy in the room, there was already a lot of anticipation about this match up maybe happening, i could even hear it around me during the final right up until the MC said the next battle was "Pair Vs Pair", and everyone went crazy. I don't get the impression that The Gamals get labeled as biters by anyone in the dance community, the only people who really say that are the Les Twins fans who are just being unpleasant... Because i've always had the feeling despite some obvious similarities they can't do anything about (Similar heights, similar builds, both coming Guadeloupe...) they have a different kind of movement to Les Twins right now. It's been a few years that Les Twins have gotten more technical or precise, especially in Larry's case (i say this as a positive and a negative, because i do miss when Les Twins had bounce like in 2008 at the Juste Debout, but i do admire that their precision is incredibly easy on the eyes), where as Les Gamals do feel more loose, fluid and bouncy. They have a tiny bit of a Icee feeling, in that very relaxed kind of dancing style, which for differentiates them from Les Twins... And this does work to the advantage because i do hear quite a few of the people who dislike how Les Twins dance preferring how Les Gamals dance, because it feels more hip hop to them. It's just my feeling and how i feel being in the Parisian area... I think The Gamals get a lot of love and a lot of people were wishing for them to take down Les Twins. In terms of the rounds themselves, Les Twins do have a certain character which makes even their most basic moves hit harder... There are so many interviews where they talk about how they know they have it, so they just act that way all the time, even my friends who grew up with them, went on holiday with them, got into fights at school with them admit they have always been special in that way. This attitude often gives them a certain edge in battles, because they do give off something, they have a certain intimidation factor. Even in terms of being Twins... At this FC there were 4 sets of Twins (Les Twins, Les Gamals, LMC Lockers and Oma & Ema), and even among other sets of twins, their connection does stand out (this how i feel, no offense to the other dancers who danced wonderfully and deserve all the respect they have). There is something i can't put my finger on which makes their commando's, their sudden connections hit harder than others, EVEN when i admit i preferred some of Les Gamals commandos in terms of the concept, Les Twins execution of even the most basic commandos really hits hard. And to finish off, everything Metal said about Slim and that balance between inspiration and biting is tough... In my case (like a lot of people) my first memories of dancing making me fall in love with it was MJ, which then led to poppin and THEN Les Twins... And in my case, having a very similar build to Les Twins (despite being white, so there were minor differences). They opened my eyes in a way because they kind of felt like they dance to music the way i heard it, with their fast paced weird glitching and really good use of their long limbs and everything. Even in terms how i felt about being tall and skinny, they gave me the confidence to not be embarrassed, to wear T Shirts and show my arms, to dance in public... I definitely went through my phase of trying to learn Larry's moves for about 2 years, and i've slowly had to pull myself away from that despite never meaning to be a biter... In my case, trying to learn Krump now and reintroduce some Poppin fundamentals has been my way of trying to do that. All that to say, i totally relate to Metal's lovely feeling of looking up to Slim, Larry was definitely that to me. Anyway, as always, keep creating King... Your the best we've got and your creating something special, so happy to be here to see it

@Metals Palace I'm no expert (not even a dancer lol), but it seems Les Gamal's style has more of a "Capoeira" feel, and they are more comfortable dancing in unison. Whereas Les Twins have more range to dance both in unison as well as exhibit their individual dance style and strengths. In other words, if one of Les Twins stops dancing (God forbid), at least the other twin could hold his own as an individual dancer. I don't see that with Les Gamals - they are all or nothing.

I think at least some dance competitions (judging) are a "joke" to some degree. How can friends/colleagues and stuff be the ones who decide between you and others? This makes the "judging" just bad, at least with my knowledge of psychology. I liked the battle, iam a LT fan, idk who won, but the judging in dance competitions seems not on par with other high grade sports competitions. What are your (comment readers) arguments/input?

I love dance & a good battle; but in my opinion: This was a hard battle for me to look at because even though les gamal can dance, it just looked like a bitter version of les twins. It was hard to individualize or personalize les gamal's dances to them. Do you know what I mean? I see many dancers of the same genre do similar moves within their genre and they manage to put their personal stamp to it. Les Gamal's energy just seems jealous to me. Lacking the charisma of Les Twins. It isn't even that Les Twins did their best... it is just that Les Gamal weren't better.... they were biters.

I love Les Twins but I think they don't necessarily know who they personally. They have spent their entire living breathing and eating the dance life, I don't think they know how to turn it off

Most people don't know themselves, we all connect with something that makes us what we are, it's dance for them. But I guess there's a lot of difference in how much we put our energy in more things than just one..but that's phylosophy
