I spoke with Alex about this personally. The reason his floorworks is flawless is because of his breaking background. He literally said : if you wish to be comfortable with the floor, you need to start breaking or do at least some capoeira. So that you can understand positioning better.

One of the things that a lot of people might miss that contributes to his continuous motion is the fact that he simply starts the move before the beat. At 8:40 that knee spin into the step could easily be a half measure slower, making the pace slightly mlre hurried. He gives him time to make the cadence look effortless, as well as giving himself time to think about the next concept just by starting the step a just a half note early Even at 8:58 when most dancers would be aiming at hitting the claps with each move, its more like his move ends on the clap The amount of patience he has with his dance is just insane on top of everything else
