You know what's stretched? The weird mushroom from Super Mario Maker. It was inspired by a glitch that made Mario, well... *stretched.* They also acknowledged the minus world in Super Paper Mario. No. SM64 was released in 1996. The first known run of SMB1 was extremely primitive and was not even an attempt at going as fast as possible. While it is likely that people did attempt to go as fast possible through the game, wall jumps being consistently implemented and found by Nintendo without a method of expression seems extremely unlikely. The only likely scenario of wall jumps being inspired by the first game is Nintendo themselves recognising the bug before the production of SM64, though I think that it was most likely not inspired by the franchise, either taking inspiration from other platformers or with no inspiration at all (an original idea to suit a 3D game).

@Rottypops Жыл бұрын
I find it hard to believe the glitch inspired wall jumping in Mario 64. On the accounts that #1 There's no Internet and SMB speed-running database where everyone is pooling their knowledge and strats prior to 1995-1996. And #2 there would be several games, for several years that made use of wall jumping as a mechanic. You had games like Ninja Gaiden in 1988 where you could cling and jump from a wall, or 1991 Mega Man X that's famous for its wall jumps. It makes more sense that Nintendo devs who are in their 20s playing Ninja Gaiden and Mega Man are getting inspiration from games they're enjoying as a break from their work, than to think they got inspired by frame-perfect glitches that no one is taking about because it's 1985-1995 didn't have no social-media like gathering/forums where people are talking about it as common knowledge
