Complain all you want, but Master & Crazy really is the best option for Pyra & Mythra given the theme of the route. Mythra and Pyra themselves are two sides of one entity, while Master and Crazy hand are also likely the same entity being said entity's right and left hands. I'd also like to add that one of my dream picks for a Smash fighter I imagined would have Crazy Hand specifically as the boss regardless of intensity because of originally being a copy of Master Hand who was differentiated over time.

Great assessment as always, but you missed a few references. -The exact order for Sephiroth's Boss Rush is a reference to the plotline of FFVII. Rathalos is a reference to the Zolom he impales at the beginning, Galleom references Shinra somehow, Marx references Cosmo Canyon's observatory scene, Dracula references the Mansion where you find Vincent, Ganon references Sephiroth burning down Nibelheim, and Giga Bowser references WEAPON. Finally, Master and Crazy Hand on Northern Cave, obviously, references his One-Winged Angel form, and his end credits theme, Jenova, references his backstory. -Pyra's fight against Ryu and Ken has M. Bison's theme in the background, which is a reference to the climax of Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, in which Ryu and Ken team up against M. Bison. They spam Hadoken frequently in this fight as an homage to the end of said fight in which they finish him off with a combined Hadoken. -Sora's fight against the Robins specifically references Axel, Larxene, and Marluxia, since they were the three main antagonists of Chain of Memories. Axel is represented by the male Robin that spams Arc Fire, Larxene is referenced by the female Robin spamming Thunder, and the giant male Robin represents their leader, Marluxia. -Sora's end credits theme turns the end credits minigame an ingenious homage to the Gummi Ship levels, which more than makes up for his Master & Crazy Hand fight (which at least could've been set in Dive to the Heart. At least they got Destati playing in the background, I guess.)

If I recall correctly, the Robins in Sora's route are more specifically references to certain members, rather than as a whole, though it could work for both. Since it's supposed to be Castle Oblivion, they reference the members you fight in chain of memories, being Larxene, as portrayed by the female robin, Vexen, the normal sized male Robin, and Marluxia, the big male Robin. I also kind of recall the female Robin prefering to use thunder than any other move, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

The song that plays - You Will Recall Our Names - is first played in Xenoblade II when Mythra first joins the party, and becomes the Alternate Boss Theme for every superboss/Unique Monster fought after that point. They could also represent the final boss, Artifice Aion, which floats around and bombards you with a ton of projectile weaponry.
@totalradlad3 жыл бұрын

Also the Ex-Aid movie had a villain who used the Pac Adventure toy gimmick (which Ex-Aid later used to become a recolor of Knock-Out Fighter no less) to become Dr. Pac-Man, tying them to both Pac-Man and Dr. Mario before Smash Ultimate (there was also a direct to video special with various Namco toy gimmicks, including Gradius).

13:42 pretty sure you got that wrong. It's a reference to when you storm the Mishima tower and have to take down mishima zaibatsu soldiers. You go through lots of them in one fight just like in tekken. that or it's a reference to an old tekken game mode, tekken force. similar thing you best up loads of military guys in suits kind of like streets of rage if my memory serves me well Also, donkey Kong could be kuma? but im not sure on that either. it's really weird that he's black lol

My mains are Shulk, Cloud, Inkling, Byleth, Steve and Pyra/Mythra. I wish Shulk and the Aegis’ classic modes had more direct refrences to Xenoblade and Byleth’s had more references to the events of Three Houses, but the rest have pretty good classic modes. Steve’s is definitely my favorite, but Cloud’s is also pretty well-done as well, both tying into the motion-sickness and vehicle theme as well as referencing key events in FFVII that you only really get after playing the game.

byleth had the exact same theme as lucina. references to 3H specifically would be nice. here are some fights i can think of, not in any particular order: belmonts who spam neutral B (referencing kostas and his crew, who in turn are this games representative of the early game bandits, who usually wield axes) bowser, who then transforms into giga bowser upon defeat (referencing miklan, a tanky powerhouse who is forcibly transformed into a demonic beast upon defeat) several villagers backed up by robin (referencing the incident in remire village, where you face villagers who were driven insane by solon) ganondorf wielding deaths scythe (referencing the death knight) ZSS wielding killing edge (referencing kronya) the fight with the 3 byleths can stay the last fight is a bit iffy, since it could imply route favoritism, but you could have byleth fight rathalos, as the immaculate one is fought in two of four routes. alternatively, you could have a fight against robin, referencing thales, as he is a villain regardless of route (not an antagonist in CF, but still a villain who edelgard plans to dispose of when their alliance is at an end)

For Steve and Sora’s classics, most of Steve’s fights and Sora’s fight against the Robin’s are also used in their DLC spirit battles, along with that, I always thought the Sora v.s. Sora fight in his classic was meant to be the fight against Roxas in KH2 since it also happens in Dive into the Heart
@Folutu3 жыл бұрын
It's the Armored Ventus Nightmare because opponent Sora's default color in this round is his Dream Drop Distance outfit.

@@Folutu ok, didn’t know that, not to mention, it IS kinda hard to tell when the opponent in coated in metal

@@PerfectChaos115 You can see it from the menu before the fight. That said, Roxas is a pretty well-educated guess, all things considered.
@PerfectChaos1153 жыл бұрын
@@Folutu well, I mean outside of the color choice and the metal coating, it IS pretty copy-paste to the Roxas spirit battle, nor would it have been the only copied fight if it WERE meant to be Roxas
@Folutu3 жыл бұрын
@@PerfectChaos115 Yeah, but it's specifically because Sora's default color is his Dream Drop Distance attire coupled with him being Metal (+ the Dive to the Heart image is Sora) that definitely points it to it being the Armored Ventus Nightmare.

Congrats on explaining all the Classic origins for each character, Aaron! 👏 I know that wasn’t easy doing all 89 playable fighters, but you did it! 👍 I think I like most of how the Fighter Pass 2 characters’ routes ended up too! 👌 The only thing I’m not super fond of is that the Hands are the final bosses for half of these characters, when I think they could’ve been a bit more original. With Sephiroth, it makes sense since his route is all about taking on all the bosses in Ultimate, including Master Hand, and Crazy Hand. Pyra/Mythra kinda fits with the Hands too, though I think a boss like Dracula, or even Giga Bowser, or something would be more appropriate for their route. Sora, there’s no reason it had to be a battle against the Hand duo other than probably just having him face off against the main villains of the Smash franchise, they easily could’ve picked a different boss for Sora to fight for more Kingdom Hearts references like maybe Marx, or even regular characters. 😆 Oh, well. 😛 Thank goodness for the power of MODDING!!! 💪
@DavidHutchinson07133 жыл бұрын
I think Sora against the Hands are the most fitting, for multiple reasons: A) Duality of Order and Chaos = balance between light and darkness, a pivotal plot point across the series B) A duo, thus teamwork, tying closely to Sora's "my friends are my power" philosophy C) white gloves are a staple of Disney characters D) Disney's most iconic video game character against the most prolific bosses of Smash
@kingnewcomer20293 жыл бұрын
I suppose that makes sense. Still, I can’t help but feel like so many characters’ bosses are the Hands at the end of their routes, when I think there’s plenty of other bosses that would’ve worked out better, or even just regular fighters.

I assumed metal Sora represented Sora's heartless form. It seems to me like the metal is a darker shade than normal as well, but it could just be that the stage is dark.

I think master and crazy hand reference the guard armor from the first game because when you fight it you destroy its feet and hands and then the armor itself

I wonder if the reason why Duck Hunt wasn't in Sora's Classic Mode was cause Disney did not want even a single trace of anything they own even being alluded to aside from the Mickey Mouse keychain.
@aaricbro.3 жыл бұрын
That could be a reason and also the fact that Sakurai isn’t going to be including any non videogame characters. For Sora it seemed like they didn’t want to add anything that wasn’t exclusive to Kingdom Hearts. Goofy and Donald being Disney cartoon characters makes sense why they weren’t shown or referenced as it can be seen as trying to reference nonvideogame cartoon characters in a game containing literally only videogame characters

A detail that wasn't mentioned was that in Sora's route the battle with the Robins represent Roxas, Xion and Axel. As one of the Robin's is giant and male (Axel being much taller than Xion and Roxas), one is regular sized and female (Xion being one of the only female members of Organisation 13, other than Larxene who doesn't make sense as she's the same height as Axel) and the last being Roxas as it focusses on sword based attacks (and is also the same height of Xion).

I also like to point out that the bionic suit mii fight in Kazuya’s classic mode stage could be a reference to the army that Kazuya would often take control of since he on some occasions led that army (like in Street Fighter X Tekken when Kazuya and his team were going to kill Nina for Pandora’s Box)
@thedragonswill80533 жыл бұрын
Ok, I know sephiroth is ALLL bosses, but the first one might be a reference to the dragon they fight in the oringal game when you have the story of nibelhiem being told, everything else I would not know.

16:44 i think it would be a closer reference to sora’s fight with shadow sora in kingdom hearts 1 Also 17:17 this could also be a reference to the traverse town boss fight where sora fights a metal knight thing that has detachable hands and limbs

Good video, although the armored Mii Fighters in Kazuya's classic mode is actually a reference to the Tekken Force modes in various Tekken games. These are beat em up modes where you pick a character and they then basically just fight a bunch of armored soldiers and robots over and over. But aside from that that this is all really solid, good job.
